Young women now have "escape funds"

Which I think is fantastic!

Apparently it's common now for young women in relationships to have a secret online account which they call their "escape funds" just in case the relationship goes pear shaped without warning.

Too many women have been suddenly dumped and left either homeless or without the finances to pay the bills/rent/mortgage on their own. I was talking to a young woman at work recently and when she broke up with her husband she was left without a job, no car and homeless. I was telling my daughter about her and she told me lots of her friends have escape funds and she's planning one herself.

When my ex left he took half the furniture and left me paying huge rent on my own.

You may need to leave your partner for whatever reason - domestic abuse, he's cheating on you .... if I had an escape fund I wouldn't have had to hang around waiting 2 months for my ex to get his act together and move out.

So I encourage all women to have an 'escape' secret online account where you can have a few $ direct debited into the account weekly/monthly and forget about it ....

You might be sitting there smug and complacent thinking your relationship would never get to that stage but you never know.

Young women now have "escape funds"

A friend of mine was telling me that she sold a bulk lot of clothing very cheaply to a  a young mum who hugged her and burst into tears because her husband had left her and their baby and she was going to try and make some money at the markets. That's an awful predicament to find yourself in, so I think it's a good idea to have an "éscape fund

In our case we've been together so long that neither of us need one  😄
