Martin, I'm not sure if it was my post, (#10) that you felt was making fun of you, but if so I would like to reassure you that any perceived mockery was in no way aimed at you.  I have nothing but the deepest respect and admiration for the way you have overcome what must have been a truly horrendous upringing to become the sensible and insightful person you are today, and I would never, ever, attempt to make you the butt of a joke.

No, it's not you that I was referring to great she elephant.
The person that has made comments on a couple of my threads who caused me to take a break from community spirit is the one causing me grief

I had to do a traineeship once.
I told the boss if I didn't get paid I'll walk.
He paid me and made me promise not to tell all the others.
I told them all but none were brave enough to demand payment, their loss
LOL - begs the question - of WHY - he didn't just let you walk.

If this was the ' offending ' post - then I apologise - for the lack of understanding of the post.

A traineeship is usually a Gov. backed excercise for the employer.

A trainee - would/should know the ' scheme ' he is being trained under.

My post - WHY - he - didn't just let you walk - was aimed at the employer.

Given - on your approach he agreed to pay you - it opened the gate to ' being ' obligated ' to pay all '.

He ' made you promise ' not to tell all the others - but you did.

Had they/with you - gone enmasse - he would have been ' obligated ' to pay all - or lose all.

A complaint could have been fowarded to the Gov. Body - perhaps putting a stop to his shonky practises.

Why - didn't he let you walk - he could have ' employed ' another - not expecting to be paid for the job done.

He only needed one - not hard I imagine with so many looking for work.

Paranoid - perhaps - but a coin always has 2 sides.

Talking about traineeships again during the Labor Government before little Johnny was elected I did a traineeship that was fully paid that was a Government initiative.
It gave me a trades assistant certificate and because I was the best welder in the course I won a position at a ship building company and had just started aluminium welding training, still fully paid.
Then little Johnny was elected and the company moved to China.
I spent the next three years unemployed.
I can't help but notice that unpaid training has a strong correlation to the Liberal party being in Government.
Unpaid training/ internships are a staple of the worst nation on Earth.
We should be doing our best to be nothing like them.
Instead of everything like them.
It starts with devaluing people to the point that they are worthless until some greedy employer decides otherwise then before you know it Australian will be dying in hospital corridors because of a lack of insurance just like the meanest money hungry scumbag nation on Earth.
All people's time and effort is worthy.
Do not let this country become the **bleep**hole that the States are

Employers are able to claim a tax deduction on training.
If someone is training for free is the employer still claiming a tax deduction.
I'm sure that they are.
I don't believe anything in life is fair except some people's hair but to not pay someone that is training to make you money and making you money even if only a small amount is rouge behaviour as far as I'm concerned

An employer can only claim a tax deduction on money that they are actually spending.....unless they are cooking the books.

I cannot see how they could do it as there are too many ways to be found out where wages are concerned.....wages declared for Workers Compensation purposes, Wages Declarations to the ATO, Withholding tax paid to the ATO to name just 3 ways.

And - if something did happen to an ' employee ' or someone in a ' trainership ' - on the job.

Hello - it's just not adding up.
