Yes, that was pretty bad.  I wonder why she wasn't arrested for harbouring the killer.  He was staying at her house or did I get that wrong?

She knew. She said she saw him on the news while he was hiding there. I'd think they'd get around to charging her, but a lot of good it'll do...you can see she doesn't care.

I've seen enough to know that when a person of any colour that can't produce ID they are hiding something. Either drugs in the car, weapons, or an arrest warrant....as in this case.

So I would never blame the cop for pulling his weapon when he has no idea who he's dealing with. I put my hands on wheel and wait for him to ask me a question. Why put a cop who's just doing his job through further stress? It NEVER helps.

Is it compulsory in USA to carry ID at all times when driving a car? I can think of many times when I have been on short hops - ferrying kids to and from from school etc - and would not have been able to produce ID if pulled over.

It's compulsory in NSW and Qld to have your Licence with you when driving.  Maybe elsewhere within Australia, too.

Yes, you always need ID when out and about, even if you're walking. Example....If a person fits the discription of a bank robber is walking along and spotted by a cop, he'd be asked for ID.

It's been a long time, but I've been stopped without ID. I did my best to prove who I was (library card, paystub, etc.) If you don't have ID and you fit the discription you would held until you could prove you are who you say you are. I agree with that completely.

So, you don't look like a criminal, but give me some lip I might take you down to station, lol.

BTW, you should always carry it even on short trips. You never know when an emergency of some type occurs and having your ID could save your life when minutes count.

another unarmed black man murdered

Another human male aledigidly murdered by a police officer.

your posted title makes this look like a race bait topic. With no links, or detail, I have to assume as others this is the case of the dreaded no front plate. Sure, that could be a capital offence in these parts, I'm sure also, that the evasive behiavior and stalling , oh, and the booze in the car didn't help matters eather.

My problem is in charging this cop with murder. No jury will convict on that, maybe they would convict on a lesser charge, and thats why I think they are charging him with murder. They know they won't get a conviction on that, and it works right in with their race baiting. Oh how the news loves to stir things up.

As far as I know, you must always carry your drivers licence whilst operatiing a motor vehicle here in Aus also. Coppers aren't happy if they stop you and you can't show it.

I wouldn't call it the "dreaded no plate". Then again a missing plate sticks out like a sore thumb and begs to get pulled over. And if you can't show proof of insurance they'll impound you car. If you're drunk they sell your car and keep the money. If your licence is suspended they'll arrest you and impound the car.

All good laws IMO. I'm not saying I haven't broken those laws either. I have...lots of them, lol. But growing up here as a teen it was very different than now (outside NYC). It's very city like here with a 100 times more cars on the road (no exaggeration). Before my time they might even let you drive home even though you were drunk, if it was close by.

No more. If something happens after the cops let you leave they are held responsible. Sued for millions if it results in death.

They tacked a second charge on if the murder charge fails. Something along the lines of manslaughter.

And yes, this is a bait thread imo. Notice the OP never returned?

Re: another unarmed black man murdered

Yes it's a requirement to have your DL while driving, most times a cop will settle for a SS number or some info they can run a check on that matches the driver giving it.

In the states, if a cop don't have a reason to search you or run a check on you, or stop you in a car, it's a violation of the 4th amendment. Right to be secure in your person and effects. That is called probable cause, sometimes, reasonable suspition of a crime. I suppose the reason here would be the man's license plate was on his dashbord instead of his front bumper. More reasons poped up with the bottle of booze and the evasivness of the man stopped.

Sometimes those plastic brackes on a car's bumper breaks off. When I bought my car, it was already broken off, but I drilled new holes and bolted the plate directly onto the bumper. Guess that probibly saved my life. I did that before I would drive it home even. But I seen some people set them up on the dash. I hope they stay safe.
