Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐

My story is not uncommon ... I had a horrible time in art classes in school, and was convinced I didn't have an artistic bone in my body ... decades later, I wanted to create stuff, and I still can't believe that I have actually sold things I've made.
One thing I've learned is that in some areas, it's as important to know the techniques as it is to have artistic talent.

:^O Greencat, well, I can't draw at all, so there you go, you can xx

Katy, waving to you too xx
Yes, I agree about that.
Conversely, I have seen people who paint wonderful pictures though who have never had a lesson in their lives but somehow, I suppose like Mozart in terms of music, just "know" what they know.

Hey, Fleur ๐
Yes, sure ... I agree. But I was thinking of things like jewellery making ... you need to know the basics there, but once you do, the sky is your limit.
Posted too quickly up there. The first picture is of a normal bread and butter plate, with round glass "pebbles" stuck on and a candle in the middle.
The second is an internet photo of Marilyn, printed on glossy photo paper, stuck in a cheap IKEA frame, with crystals applied by me to form the earrings and necklace. They are stuck on to the glass of the frame.

I want your nails - they are an artform all on their own! :^O

I agree with that too Katy, some things have to be demonstrated xx

Heh, heh, heh. Not MY nails, but I provided the materials to the model. That was so much fun. It's amazing what you can do to nails now ...

I'm a firm believer that anyone can learn to do 'art'. It's like learning a musical instrument, if you have the interest and the drive you can learn to play an instrument. It's the same with art anyone can learn to draw, paint, sculpt whatever, but you need the interest and the passion to do it.
For some it will come easy but for others it will be difficult just like learning an instrurment.

Don't look for any works of art from me. I am the only person I know who failed shorthand because she couldn't draw the little squiggles properly.:-(
