Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐

I used to do quite a lot of cross stitch, but I gave most of it away. I can't do it as much now because my eyesight isn't good enough now, especially at night.
The first one is my grandparents house adapted from a photo taken just a but before it was pulled down, and the second one is my My Family sampler. It representes a lot of the interests me and mine had at the time.
Sorry about the photo quality, they are framed and behind glass so the detail isn't very clear.

years ago i did a few decorative painting lessons.
the teacher told us there is no mistake too bad that a bit of sandpaper and paint cannot fix so to just go for it.
i always think o that when i am thinking of trying something new but am a bit hesitant.

Well, this is my very first attempt at drawing, and I did it whilst watching Master Chef last night. The pencils didn't have the colours that I needed, and mixing the colours didn't give me the colours that I wanted. I think I will eventually be able to improve my mixing skills. Probably the biggest challenge was deciding which part of the face to start on. I eventually decided to start with the nose, since that was cental, and the eyes fed off it. I think drawing a vampire face cast in spots of shadow may have been too challenging as a first attempt.
Anyway, here it is: Bella Swan from Twilight. Can't say it looks like Kirsten Stewart at all. :^O

I think that maybe we should start watermarking our works to prevent other people from using it elsewhere without our permission?

I think that's a great start, Moonlight. Good eyes, nice mouth.
I read once where a famous painter said that much of art wasn't "talent" or "genius", it was hard work, practising, practising, practising ...
Oh, a general point ... I've been amazed recently at what art tools are now available. There are some awesome "loaded paintbrushes" ... can't remember what they are called, but they look like pens, have a brush tip, and the paint is in the pen. I love working with enamel paint where I can ... much quicker and shinier than water colour or acrylic. I also like playing with new ideas or alterations to old ideas ... like knitting in lace or ribbon.
Fleur colouring the eggs is easy ... just use textas or paint and have an egg cup or something to put the egg in. Blowing them is the harder part. You need to make a hole in the top and the bottom of the egg with something like a thin knitting needle and then blow through the hole to force the white and yoke out the other end. You can paint over the holes later, or put a sticker or put a sequin on them.
Use the egg to make omelettes or scrambled egg ๐

Thanks for that Katy, much appreciated. Just for fun and practice this afternoon, I'm going to have a go at getting the yoke and white out of the egg .. I'll use a very thin awl and report back.
I'd never heard of 'loaded paintbrushes, now there's a really good idea, I'll be looking into that shortly.

This is a quilt I made in 2008 for a friend. It's huge and was my first king sized one. It's made with Japanese fabrics and are 'silk like' to touch which made it rather difficult to handle but finally got there with a bit of wonderful husband help.
