art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. 🙂

Re: art thread?

Thanks Kengillard.  It was a great learning curve too, never had I made something so big on the smaller sewing machine.  It's different now as I have one that has a huge space to get a big quilt through.

One day, I will get a long arm quilter, but nowhere to put it yet until we move, then it will be a whole new era adding to what is possible.

Lovely quilt, Fleur.  Beautiful colours.

These are what I have.  They're easy and fun to use.  I painted a wooden button and put it in water for days and it didn't lose any colour.  They're expensive, but quality.

Re: art thread?

Oh wow, what a great link;   thank you so much Katy, I've downloaded it, lots to learn there.

Also followed the eBay number, what great pens, am following that through too, one of each colour would be nice.  I've sent them a message to make enquiry about sending one of each colour.  Crossing my fingers.

Re: art thread?

years ago i did a few decorative painting lessons.

the teacher told us there is no mistake too bad that a bit of sandpaper and paint cannot fix so to just go for it.

i always think o that when i am thinking of trying something new but am a bit hesitant.

but i just dont know where to begin.

Kid themed? Abstract?

Re: art thread?

Daydream, you could choose anything that appeals to you and just 'start', see what happens, you would be surprised and probably delighted with the result .. 🙂

Re: art thread?

DDB ... just doodle in pencil and see what works for you.

Try trees, flowers, faces, caricatures (just use someone in the paper), butterflies, anything ...

Or, you could trace something and then transfer it.

Here's something I've been meaning to do for years ... I thought I'd do it in nail varnish ... get a tile and pour on some nail varnish.  Let it dry and repeat with different colours.

What sort of paint do you have?  Oil?

What about playing with those cardboard coasters from craft shops?  You could paint a set of 6 in a theme.

JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

That's it Katy, that's it .... I went into the second number and have purchased the whole set instead of separately ... yaaay, thank you ...  :-x

Cardboard coaster sets?  Love that idea so I'll have something to test my pens out on when they arrive.

What a great thread this is thank you.
