art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. 🙂

scroll back and take a really good look at the rockmelon pic....notice how when the light hits  certain areas, the colours are much lighter, even white sometimes? e.g. on the plate?  It's all about "getting your darks and lights right".....which takes a while....but comes with practise.

That's almost identical to my Canon PowerShot A495 ... 

I'd prefer a camera that takes AA batteries because you don't have to worry about recharging the battery when you just have to take that shot now ...

I found this idea from a painting I like on eBay.

This is my very rough first sketch. It tells me my perspective is wrong and I'd prefer the flowers to be taller and I'm not sure 'what' flowers yet but I like the colours. I sketched in pastels and will be painting in oils once I get the design right.

You call this a rough sketch, but I would be happy to call it a finished piece. The circles don't look like flowers, but they have their own charm, and the colours are vibrant and blend together very well.
