Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐

I managed the daffodil ok and also Lily of the Valley but the website is great for showing you how to draw (copy) but not for painting. My painting needs work big time.

I like them too Joono. They remind me of illustrations in fairy books

Thanks Kelso. I think the same with the dark outline. I was thinking for the daffodil I should stop doing that but I sort of like them that way so it looks more like an illustration.

They're great joono.
If you want try without them being outlined, or just to give them a more realisitc look, decide where you want the light to come from. Say the sun was hitting the right side of the flower, leaves and stem, then that side would be painted a lote lighter in colour. The left would have shadows, under the petals, leaves etc would be darker.
Go pick a real leaf and hold it in front of you, you'll see how the light hits it and it will give you an idea of what I'm trying to say lol...not great at explaining things.
I hope more people will give drawing/painting a go. I'm in the middle of a new painting and will post pics of it and a couple of others I've done recently.....later in the week.
Hmm.....now where is the painting ms mioux said she was going to do??? and DDB ? and I'm sure there were others, too?

Thanks for the tips Soul. I will try to do another one soon. For the daffodil especially I was trying to make the colour darker in some places (probably the wrong places) but once I use the brush and water it all blends in too much. Perhaps I need to rinse the brush off more so that the colour doesn't spread.
The lily of the valley leaves are a mess haha ๐
I was looking back at your work and your acrylic of the sea scape has really grown on me. I love it.

Thanks....I like a lot of different styles of painting but I prefer paintings that have some life to them even if they're not techniquely perfect rather than a dead looking photo realistic one. Art is very individual and a painting is only wrong if it isn't what the painter wanted it to be. Well, that's my view anyway.
Happy painting !
