art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Some fantastic pieces here !!!

I really like your painting skwerlโ™ฅ

Moonlight, I think for your first drawing you did sooooo well.  If you look up sites using the brand of pencils/paints etc that you're using, you'll find heaps of hints and tips also great videos showing how things are done.

Amy, one way to start a painting when you just don't know what to do, is pick a colour, any colour you like and start painting the whole canvas. Something that stops people from starting is having a white empty space in front of them, so by colouring the canvas you feel more inspired as usually a shape will appear or something that will just "click".  Same when writers are faced with a blank page.

Another thing to remember is......it's only paper/canvas etc.  it doesn't matter if it doesn't turn out just how you thought, the more you do the better you will become.  I suggest drawing something every day.  A finger, a coffee mug, the keyboard anything...

Can't wait to see more pics ๐Ÿ˜„

Pimpy, love what you have done with the acrylic on paper, I looked at it for a long time and saw great meaning in it.

I called this one "Into To The Arctic".  It's quite muddly and unbalanced in many ways, but it was the first one I ever attempted with the 'windows' look.  It now resides over the washing machine as a cover because it looked dreadful as a wall hanging, so required hiding.. :8}

I like the "window" look tas.  I've never done quilting so appreciate all the effort put into them !

The one above would look even better if all the panels had the snow/light blue/animals in them I think.....as if I'd know anything about quilting so just ignore me LOL

Meet "Sir Chilblain" ...  :^O  I made this polar bear a few years ago now as a first bear making exercise.  Everything went wrong .. I ran out of white fur so used that awful red stuff with the black dots for his feet, and then didn't have any ordinary coloured eyes so used the red ones to match the feet ... Mr. Tasfleur came home, fell about laughing and declared that it looked like the bear had frostbite and chilblains, so that made it easier to name him ...  ๐Ÿ˜ .... :^O

Next thing to collapse were the legs.  I ran out of the stuffing so used those beans used in bean bags, and given how big this bear is, well, he just splayed out everywhere like a drunken bruin.

To fix that, I sat all day unpicking his legs and restuffed them but then couldn't get all the beads out, so he ended up with 'leg' acne.  Finally, it all settled inside, but when the cat sits on him, he still collapses and looks twice as stupid (the bear, not the cat) ... ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, you are absolutely right soul xx  I didn't have a real clue about what I was doing with it and should have done exactly what you suggested.

I tried to give Sir Chilblain away, but no matter how hard I tried, nobody would adopt him .. :_|

That's the good thing about anything we all make, always learn something from what we've done.

I love going to art workshops, even ones I've already done because I always learn something new.

Love the bear ! very aptly named LOL
