art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can imagine it with a post over on that yonder headland/bit sticking out in to the water. You like you see on breakwaters telling the trawlers which side to stay on. And a bit of trawler fishing net with a bit of sea weed on the sand bank. No live stuff. I like the feeling of solitude the colours give. Ok maybe one lonely birdie far out over the horizon.

I went to Youtube today, and this video was feature right on the front page:

I think that I am quite open to different forms of art, but this must be one of the silliest that I've ever heard of. Anyone remember 'P1ss Christ'? (I had to change the word so that it doesn't get censored)

No luck with acrylics or charcoal lately. Smiley Frustrated

All epic fails. Last one is charcoal.

EDIT: Soul, your #2 watercolour is quite an improvement.

Good idea skwerl, except......it's too late ! used the back to practise some other techniques and now it's in the bin.  I'd have far too many paintings if I kept all the **bleep** ones as well as the half **bleep** ones, a bit **bleep**py ones the hmm, okay ones plus the ones I like lol !

The charcoal drawing you've done is called contour drawing moonlight, meaning the outline.  Another way is to use the charcoal like you've used the coloured pencils in the past.  Try drawing an apple using different pressure to achieve light and dark shading etc, using broken, smaller pieces, the side etc.  Try it without drawing the outline, just shading.

I think each medium has it's own learning curve but because you've used pencils successfully, you'll get the hang of charcoal quickly.

Any paintings finished by you gil? and are you enjoying getting creative ?

Hope all is okay with hubby xx

I'm starting a drawing of my mother today, she turns 80 soon and I have an old photo of her when she was about 20, hope I do a good job of it !

OH is good thanks Soul.   is very settled where he is and loves all the attention and goings on there.   I think he was bored here, so it's been good for him.

That's good to hear gil.

Looking forward to seeing what you've done so far, gill. ๐Ÿ™‚

Soul, I think that charcoal is way too messy for my liking - smudges too easy, and needs fixative spray to hold it all in place. I think that I'll lstick to pencils for a while longer.

I had a go at making some chrissy cards this year.

This one for someone who loves skwerls

(the sparkly sequins and gold stars don't show up very well)
