Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐

:^O:^O
it takes years Tas. when you start to look at scenery with a different eye, and ask yourself why the mountains are blue in the distance and the trees are green up close, you will have reached the stage of having 'second sight'. believe me, as you progress you'll see everything in a different way. more detail etc. just keep at it. didn't explain that very well....Soul?

Hahaa tas !
Not knowing anything about painting at all, I used oils when I first started. I'm charging my camera atm, so will take a pic of my very first attempt LOL
I will say, after using oils, acrylics seemed so very much easier ! and as I'm not very patient, I loved not having to wait or having 2 or 3 paintings on the go at once. I still have my oils and also a couple of paintings I haven't touched for years....guess I'll get around to finishing them one day.
What got me started was living in Karratha northern w.a., the colours over there are so rich and vibrant I just had to paint.
gil, I will be interested to see the "real" colours of the pineapples but as I said, I really love it as it has been posted. I do like colour though!
So tas, are you going to show us a pic of what you've done so far ?
Oh and at the op shop today I scored 2 great art books....doesn't matter that I have a bookcase full already ! One of Cezanne and one of Monet. I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of Monets work in Perth. One thing I miss about not living in a city.

sorry gil, missed your post. and you're right. One of my art students said the other day that he can't believe how differently he looks at things now.
Drives his wife nuts, stopping the car to take pics LOL

Gill, love, love, love the froggie! You are very talented.
Re the toilet project I was going to start on; got the paints, searched and searched and searched for a tutorial on how to paint an underwater background, zilch, zip, nada. So started tiling the bathroom floor instead :^O
After getting cold feet with the toilet mural, decided to paint a clock instead. This blardy (grandfather) clock I've had sitting around for about three years now. So far it has been bright lime-green, multi-coloured, red and black, but never finished. Yesterday I got a couple of spray cans of black and blitzed it! Just two more bits to do, then I'm going to do the detail bits in gold and sell the damn thing - sick of it. Not art, but at least I'm painting ๐
Once the clock's out of the way I might get brave enough to start a canvas. I'm not patient enough for drawing, but will have a go at splashing around a bit of paint.

Finished binding this one today - it will soon be winging its way to Western Australia to my little cousin.

I'm not that talented folks. anyone can do what I've done. I'm not very original, so copy and paint...as opposed to paste....lol but it's the painting after copying that counts. one day I might try and do an original something??? getting too old to be bothered tho I think.
