art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

thanks all. Im a bit critical of my stuff and trying to get my head around the fact all pictures are edited. The only editing on these was a straighten cept it didnt work much on the rotunda and to put the watermark on it. The rest is just me and the camera. I cant seem to find the most favourite phot I did ๐Ÿ˜ž

The church you did up there moonlight is lovely. Soul your work makes me jealous

Don't be jealous chuk...you should see the ones I don't post on here lol

I'll try to find one of OH's pics that I love.  I didn't realise it was taken from the deck here, thought it was from Darwin or O/S hahaa

The pencils are great aren't they moonlight !  Your's seem to have good strong pigments and I'm really looking forward to seeing more.

My advice would be to buy a pad of water colour paper that is at least 300gsm, your paintings will improve just be using better quality paper.  If you google the brand name

of your pencils you should get lots of info about using them etc.  One thing I've learned is to put them in the freezer for awhile before sharpening them or they tend to break.

Thinking of doing a painting only using a pallette knife this week, will post pic....maybe ! lol

Show us Soul! You keep asking to see people's work, so we want to see yours! Smiley Wink

As for watercolour paper, my art is still too amateur for me to be wasting them on good paper. I am actually trying to develope a watercolour technique that will work on all paper, even as low as 80gsm.

I still haven't opened my acrylic paints that I bought 6 months ago. I am still a virgin with acrylics - never ever used it before. But I might break them out this weekend and work on something. I might show it, but that will depend on whether you show yours. Smiley Tongue

I love the water colour pencils Moonlight so I thought I would have fun today.  I am trying to draw wild flowers and I found a great little kids web site.  Yes, kids level is where I am at Smiley Very Happy

I started with the very simple cartoon daisy and then moved on to the fuchsia.  I will be an expert in no time!  Stop that chortling LOL.  Tomorrow will be the daffodil.

Moonlight, I really think the water colour paper is great.  It was only $4 for a pad of 30 A5 sheets.  It looks so much better than trying to use watercolours on copy paper, even for a beginner like moi.
