art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also prefer the look on the bears face that you've drawn....much cuter.

Yes, I did.  I wish I was a more natural artist though.  Copying is about all I'm up for and even then it's a struggle.  I should be abstract and then no one would ever know ๐Ÿ™‚

I will save this one for if I ever have a grandchild.

Great idea, keeping the painting for future grandbabies.

Some Masters, some everyday painters and some once in a while painters take photos then grid up their canvas and draw from photo to ensure everything is in proportion etc before they start painting, so don't think all artists are born "naturals".  Doesn't matter how you get there as long as you have fun doing it.

Where did you get your watercolour paper from? What is the price and brand?

Thanks Moonlight.  It's an A5 Mont Marte pad from Red Dot.  I thought Red Dot was Australia wide but I learnt on Stringers that it's not but it's like a reject shop or Crazy Clarkes but a bit better I think.

I can't remember what I paid.  I think I mentioned on here a while ago but it was under $5 and it's 30 sheets.  I bought another one yesterday which is A4 size 12 sheets and it was $6.99 but the paper in that one is a lot thicker.

There is Red Dot and Crazy Clarkes in WA, so I will check them out. Recieved my acrylic brushes in the mail last Friday, so am looking forward to using them.

Flower. Ink and watercolour pencils(no water yet). 15 x 11.5 cm. Thought I'd take a picture before I wreck it with water. ๐Ÿ™‚

EDIT: I hope you get well soon from the tummy bug, soul! ๐Ÿ™‚

That's really nice, Moonlight.

Sorry, I keep forgetting where people live.  I'm in WA too but I'm told there is no Red Dot in Tassie or Melbourne.

I've been using the Derwent Academy A5 Visual Art Diary as watercolour paper(wp). It's not watercolour paper, but quite thick and absorbant. I'd say that it has about 50-60% the property of wp, and it will warp if too much water is used. 120pages(60 sheets), for $3 at OfficeWorks. A very cheap wp substitute.

EDIT: I cut a Pringles container up and use the pieces as containers.
