art thread?

Hi folks. I've just bought a box of coloured pencils, and will be working on my first drawing soon. I'll post the completed work here. Would love people to post their art here for us to see. Doesn't matter what type of art - drawing, painting, photos/photo manipulation, cake decorating, quilting, poetry, origami, whatever. Let's have some fun and show our creativity. ๐Ÿ™‚

Time to get the party started. No grid. No ruler. Just freehand drawing.

I've been very slack today, I can't draw/[aint when it hurts too much, so I'm hoping tomorrow is a better day.  I have so many ideas in my head, it gets abit crowded in there LOL

What hurts soul? Thanks for the tip.

Freehand hey !! you're very brave and it's good to see someone just letting go and seeing what happens.

It would be interesting to do the drawing following vanishing points etc after you've done the freehand one, to see how different they will be.

With buildings, the only way to make them look "real" is to have it in perspective....as boring as that is ! Doesn't mean that drawings HAVE to look real, they can be however you want them to be.

I'm a bit of a "lets see how what it turns out like" artist, so following rules bugs me LOL  (and I don't draw buldings very often).

Any other pics from you creative people?

Thanks, Soul and Moonlight ... I've been very busy ... and I'm working on about a dozen things at once ...

Nearly finished the first coat of paint on the window thing.  I keep adding to the womb room.  Today (having run out of white acrylic paint for the window thing (don't you hate it when you run out of something?), I started painting some earthen ware jars ... Greek restaurant kinda things ... about 4" high, six in a set ... so far, one is red and one is yellow.

Moonlight, you are very brave ... and I admire you for it.

Pics will be coming later ... I can't put photos on this computer ATM ... and dragging out the laptop is difficult due to lack of space.

I'd like to thank everyone here ... it's really got me inspired to get back into "doing" stuff.

Some things I've learnt from this project.

1. Drawing a straight vertical line is way harder than drawing a horizontal line.

2. Drawing a straight line at an angle on the non-main hand side is difficult. And if the straight line is long, it will tend to be curved due to the curved rotation of the arm. It would be easier for an ambidextrous person.

3. Don't use the thick pencil until the very end. I don't think I should have used the thick pencil at all.

I think that it is starting to take shape.

You've made a great start moonlight and yes, I think you learn something with every drawing/painting no matter how many you've done.
