Always happy to be single at this time of year. Can't stand being bullied by the capitalist machine into proving my love. So sick of these days where one is subjected to constant pressure to spend money on something that should be done every day without the involvement of big or small business

Joanie - why not do it on any day.

No reason, i didn't mean to imply that one should only do this on that holiday. Just that sometimes, some people need kinda a push. maybe they can get that puch from a friend or family member, maybe somethimes they get the push from a holiday. So I would throw your own words back to, not at you, and say, Why not do it on Valentines day?

Yes, we are, in our own way, about certain things that vary depending on the person.

None of us want to take a chance - and - get hurt.

It's so much more than that, the posibility of the harsh reality check that maybe people, or a person you really like or possibly love, wants nothing to do with you, even harder when you can see it in their face, that they are trying to find a way to let you down easy. Kinda makes you se yourself diffrent. Of corse it's just the oppisite when someone flirts with you unexpectedly, a big confidence builder.

Forget yourself for a while & get to know someone else - you may be very surprised.

Well, if we are talking about me, The big brick wall is smoking. I was asked out recently by a smoker, who later called to cancel because he had a cold. I took that oppertunity to tell him that I couldn't persue any relationship with one who smokes. Non smokers here in this area are few and far between, add to that one who is single, not already taken, and even being "Bi" it don't look the least bit promising. There was one I seen as a possibility, I dropped some hints and I believe in their own way, they hinted back that they could never be interested in being anything but friends. I'm at the age now that I'm ready to take chances and put myself out there, just have to see another possibility, and thus far, all I see are smokers.

Geez - not everyone smokes - not everyone hits - not everyone takes advantage ( AND NOT ALL OF US ARE POLICE).

Stop pulling apart anything anyone says to you - anything & everything.

Yes I know that feeling all too well of seeing it in their face....   and your heart plummets.  Then the flirting bit and how great you feel, even if it's just light hearted.   Hang in there Joanie,  the right one is out there, it can be just so hard to find them.  .

Yes it was an attack, but thats ok, I've been attacked by those far better at it. and if you don't realize it was an attack, well, that says volumes I think. You were attacking me and I don't think you even read my reply/s, otherwise you would know there was no mention of police until you brought them into it. But again, thats Ok, just means you are that much easyer to see through, of corse I realize you won't just ignore and skip down past my topics and replys. Like One-Time, you'll look for any oppertunity to slam me, undermind what I post, twist and misinterpet it. Theres a word for someone such as yourself on discussion and chat forums. But as a troll, your not a very good one. I've been attacked by far better.

My advise to you is to give up the troll thing and try to be a genuine poster, so much more rewarding in my opinion.

do you not understand? Yall say i'm making this about me, no, it's more a case of you making it about me so you can say I'm making it all about me. In support group they tell us to use " i " examples, not preaching to others about what they should do. It's alway "i would" if it were me, not "you should" because we all diffrent, what is right for you may not be right for me and vica versa.

The fact you don't realize it was an attack speaks volumes as well.

I WAS ONLY ADDRESSING THE TOPIC, My reply was genuine, honest, I offered my honest opinion, and bam, whos making it about me? I adderssed the reply to me about me, and stated why a relationship or romance for me is difficult, I never said it was impossible, only hard because it does really seem the people around here are mostly smokers, and I don't know if I can put into words just how being around smoking of any kind hurts me. I wasn't asking for perspictive on my life, I have it, and a plan that might not pan out, but I'm gonna follow it through reguardless. ..
