Lurker, I apologise I didn't realise yu were genuinesly offended. I honestly thought your 'cheep' shot comment was a deliberate - and rather clever - pun, and the cross smiley not meant to be taken seriously.
But if Aussies find the New Zealand accent amusing, I wonder what they'd make of this one - . One summer holiday I went fruit picking in Norfolk,. Ihad passed a few pleasantries with the lovely lady picking down the other side of my row of balckcurrant bushes when suddenly, out of the blue, she asked me "Doo yar hens stay in?
I was a bit taken aback - how the hell did she even know we kept chooks? - but not wanting to appear impolite I smiled and said "Well, yes, usually, unless someone leaves the gate open."
She just looked at me as if I was a few grey cells short of a brain and went on picking.
It was some days later when it suddenly dawned on me that what she had actually asked was "Do your hands stain?"
I really love the Norfolk dialect - I lived there for 12 years but never mastered it.

I didn't smile politely at the joke. I thought it was really funny.
I think Aussie Kiwi jokes are to be expected. Especially for sports.
