I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Are you coping with him? If he is becoming aggressive, you need help now.

There is no shame in asking for it. Dementia can cause a lot of behaviour changes in even the loveliest people.

yes I know all about that...agressiveness etc.   this is only just happening.  he was fine before he had a diabetic hypo an had to go to hospital.  they kept him in there for a week and mucked about with his insulin doseages and stopped all his other pills.

I'm quite angry with them actually

Sorry Gill that was a bit flipant of me.

My ganny at age 93 was struck down with it but up until then she was as bright as a button. The onset was pretty sudden and she lost all memory of recent events but remember he childhood clearly

EM, everything I have written here is correct and current. I have a huge folder of info on my desk and several emails with answers to these questions.

My father in law is in a nursing home with dementia. He is high care, secure, since February.

We are trying to get him closer to us, in Brisbane though, so I have had interviews and visits to quite a few

They are a business, so they do charge high bonds, some as high as $250,000. Some do not require a bond but accept the daily fee.

All the ones I have put his name down at (including his current one) are church ones but they do not need to be Religious to get in. All you need is a vacancy for the type of care you require.

Gill, feel free to pm me with any questions ๐Ÿ™‚
