thank you everyone....he just had week in hospital an they took him off all his medications. he's only been back onthem for 2 weeks..so I'm hoping they will kick in again...but I doubt it.

yes I know all about that...agressiveness etc. this is only just happening. he was fine before he had a diabetic hypo an had to go to hospital. they kept him in there for a week and mucked about with his insulin doseages and stopped all his other pills.
I'm quite angry with them actually

hospitals don't really have a clue about diabetes and patients.

Sorry Gill that was a bit flipant of me.
My ganny at age 93 was struck down with it but up until then she was as bright as a button. The onset was pretty sudden and she lost all memory of recent events but remember he childhood clearly

EM, everything I have written here is correct and current. I have a huge folder of info on my desk and several emails with answers to these questions.
My father in law is in a nursing home with dementia. He is high care, secure, since February.
We are trying to get him closer to us, in Brisbane though, so I have had interviews and visits to quite a few
They are a business, so they do charge high bonds, some as high as $250,000. Some do not require a bond but accept the daily fee.
All the ones I have put his name down at (including his current one) are church ones but they do not need to be Religious to get in. All you need is a vacancy for the type of care you require.
