Everyone is on borrowed time Poddster. You above all people should know that.
They brought great awareness to many people and they helped fellow prisoners. They were reformed men no matter what they have done in the past.
It was so good to hear that all of the victims last night were strong in their ordeal and went to their deaths singing spiritual songs together. I was so pleased to hear that. It was a very sad night. I felt it. I'm sad really that it meant nothing to you.

Then why don't you start a thread about it instead of using it as an excuse to diminish what others are feeling.
The Indonesian executions has had a profound affect on many, many people including myself. I am a compassionate person but even so I am surprised at the extent of my emotions over what has happened. I am not the only one who feels this way.
This thread is about the executions.
As a victim of domestic violence, I find it both dismissive and insulting to say that there is no outrage for the latest victim when that is simply not true. Are you aware that protests against domestic violence, family violence and violence against women are planned for May? Each and every death causes outrage but perhaps that doesn't happen in your world. It certainly does in mine.

It is not their Famlies fault, comes time when children choose they own road.
All should think them selves lucky it is not their sons.

As much as I hate to admit it, Bob is correct on this. The whole passage from John 7:53 through to John 8:11 was not in the earlier manuscripts.

It ddn't happen when Barlow and Chambers were exectuted in Malaysia in 1986, and who remembers Van Tuong Nguyen - Hanged on December 2, 2005 for heroin trafficking (Singapore) or Michael McAuliffe - Hanged on June 19, 1993 for heroin trafficking (Malaysia) What is so compellingly different about this case.
Social media is what is different, the people now have a voice to express themselves whether you or anybody else like it or not, and thank God we do.

@lionrose.7 wrote:So are you saying thee media attention is the families fault.
There is no way that poor family can grieve in private, the Indonesian media nearly bloody crashed them to death every time they went to visit their sons.
NO! i did not say that. I said that it should not be allowed to be turned into media circus. Where did I said that the families created the media circus?

Well, here goes my public hanging ... I am all for the death penalty!!
I am sick to death of taxpayers money being spent on feeding, clothing, medically treating a wide variety of criminals. Child molesters, sadistic rapists, serial killers, Drug smugglers, and the sorts..... all need the death penalty IMO.
I do not agree (you might find suprising) with death by firing squad! A more humane ending like lethal injection should be used.
I have not actually spoken to one person who is sorry these two were executed! I really dont know why people believe they have been rehabilitated since no-one here has actually spent any real time in their presence! And im not going to believe the heresay of other convicted criminals for their word!
If you dont want to end up on EXCUTION ISLAND then DONT SMUGGLE DRUGS INTO A COUNTRY THAT HAS THE DEATH PENALTY FOR THAT CRIME!!!!
its not like it was a well kept secret.... the whole world knows it!
AND... if you want to boycot Bali, go ahead... your measly thousand bucks wont change much! Australia's trade wont change and Aussies will still have strong ties with Indonesia, despite what Abbott and Bishop say in the media! (for PR!!)
I am not sorry they have left this earth! AND Im not going to pretend i had compassion for criminals for the sake of how i am viewed by others!
My sheep following days are long long gone!!

The problem with death penalty is that it cannot be undone. Too many people are convicted of heinous crimes only to be later found not guilty. From the 9 slotted for execution in Bali one was a mentally retarded man who had no idea what he did, and the Filipino lady who was set up, and the reason she was spared is that her cousin (?) admitted she gave her the suitcase containing the drugs, and sent her to Bali telling her there is a job for her.

Its not making heroes out of tem, its about recognition of 10 years effort of turning themeselves around, helping others teaching others etc...
actually the others to suffer now will be the prisoners of kerokaban...no more guidance help and support. and education. do you think the indonesions will pay for someone to offer that in their prisons? no way
prison is supposed to be for rehabiliation as well as punishment
