favorite garden plants

What are your favorite plants in the garden and why?

I have a fetish for Daylilies as they are easy to grow and the variety of blooms is amazing. My next favorites would be Agapanthus and Rainlilies

Have to list mine, as each has a special place in the garden, the absolute best are highlighted. I am genuinely happy wherever I see any of them.  They are all easy care, or "show" you early when they need water.  

Ground covers - ajuga, native violet 

Water garden - lilies, cannas

Trees - Jacaranda

Shrub - Pittosporum, Vibernum, Loropetalum (plum + white)

Potted - Mandevilla,  Begonia (cathedral + billbergia)

Climber - Star Jasmine, Hardenbergia

Bedding - Salvias, verbena, petunias, yellow marigolds

Bulbs - jonquils, ranunculas.
