Some time ago I had a work placement in a minor surgery hospital clinic.
I was there with one other person. I had to leave for a while. When I
returned the other guy was flat out on the floor and unconscious.
I eventually woke him and asked what happened, so I could work out what
to do. He said he was bored so he tried the gas mask to see what it was
like - it was ether! He pleaded with me not to tell anyone so I didn't. But
after that I couldn't view him any other way than a total d**k h**d.

Unfortunately these things can happen so easily. I had a small, narrow wheel base skid steer loader that could squeeze through tight walkways etc. when I did building and landscaping work. Now i just use it around the farm for big boys jobs. Its totally undergunned for shifting large bales of hay or clearing blackberries on steep slopes. Consequently its been rolled and flipped a few times.
The worst one was cleaning out a dam. I was right near the top wall when a rear tire blew out. The loader reared up and flipped, sliding down the dam wall and coming to rest partially in the water at the bottom. Luckily I got out OK but the loader needed some major repairs.
The scary part is when it rolls you have enough time to think about it. The usual thought is " this is going to hurt " and I,m rarely dissapointed as the impact smashes you around inside the roll cage. Another scary one was drilling a post hole. The borer got stuck and when it was lifted from the hole it had a nice orange 440 volt power cable that powered a winery rapped and fractured around the hole borer. It turns out two of the bare wires touched each other before rapping around the borer and it blew the fuse on the stobie pole. Apparently that is uncommon and I was lucky not to be toast.
A few weeks ago I climbed over a wire gate in an electrical storm. Around 5 seconds later the fence was hit by lightning and arced up. A week ago I was in a shearing shed that had suffered storm damage. There was a flash as a damaged wire arced across to the metal roof and sent the shed live.
I think some-one is trying to tell me something and after a few other close shaves recently are starting to seriously wonder if its time to retire..
