I accidentally came across ASMR videos about a month ago on Youtube. First time I've actually heard of the term.
From wikipedia:
"Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli."
There are lots of ASMR videos on Youtube, whereby people scrunch newspapers, wind their pocketwatches, do pencil drawings, cooking or shave etc. They use high end 3D audio recording equipment, and the sounds are pleasureable and relaxing. Some females like to talk softly or whisper whilst generating sound, into a left and right microphone, so it sounds like they're whispering into your left or right ear.
I don't what she's rustling as the 'scalp'(I am guessing that she's crinkling celophane or tinsel), but it has a pleasant sound. Best to turn up your speaker(stereo) volume, or better still, listen with stereo headphones. Enjoy. 🙂

Ok, I reported my post and asked for the link to the youtube video be removed. There is nothing wrong with it, the lady is talking about her sound recording equipment and the materials that she uses to make sounds, such as paper etc.
But for the people who don't watch past the first minute or so, they might think that the lady is just trying to sound sexy or something. So they might interpret it as being inappropriate, and that is why I asked for the link to the video be removed.
Just type ASMR into Youtube, and give your ears a treat. 🙂

ASMR !!
Brain orgasms
Kids know about it, naturally, as a rule
My favourites (won't link them) are microphone brushing, scratching (on carpets, etc) and crinkle bags
I hate the stupid Barbie Doll Voice Attempts at whispering
but don't mind some of the male whispery stuff as long as it's real
Oh, Chalk on board is a good one. Again, won't link my favourite. Matter of taste
But yes, ASMR can be a drug-free relaxant and is used by millions to help them drift off to sleep or just as background to other online stuff

Totally agree!
My favourite sounds are a female voice talking softly(especially into my ear), the sound of a cat purring, and scrunching sounds ie. paper, tinsel. I like rainforest sounds too, but not if there are too many sounds at once, so that it sounds like a crescendo.

ASMR videos can be surprisingly soothing! It's fascinating how they use sound to create such a relaxing experience. The whispering and gentle noises really make it feel like you're right there.
Apart from the Wikipedia's explanation, here is an alternative from Meaning Bot:
"You are sitting in your favorite spot, and suddenly, you are greeted by soft whispers that seem to tickle your ears, followed by the gentle tapping of fingernails on a surface, or perhaps sound of a brush gliding over a microphone. These are just a few examples of the many triggers that can set off a delightful sensation known as ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It is like a gentle wave of relaxation washing over you, starting at the top of your head and flowing down your spine, leaving you feeling calm and content."
