I rarely use my credit card but it's the same card for my credit card and eftpos card. I disabled the Paypass/wave on my card. I have to insert for everything. I have to enter a PIN by inserting so if anyone does get hold of my card (with a whopping $500 limit on it), it will take them much longer to be able to rack up $99 purchases at the bottle and smoke shop.
My neighbour's credit card was stolen from his car (he's an idiot, never locks his car and leaves stuff of interest in it). The stolen card had a $5,000 limit on it and all credit available. By the time he discovered the next morning it was gone, they were up to $4,500, just my making random under $100 purchases. According to the bank they reimburse you for that, but it's not an instant thing. He's still waiting 8 months later.

During the Black Saturday fires in 2009, some low lifes stole CFA jackets from a car. Another time a man whose business burnt down, house just made it, he was out helping others and scum broke into his house and stole stuff.
