Trouble is locusts eat out an area and then move on leaving the hapless well behind

Re: huge locust outbreak

I do not live anywhere near the outback, but funnily enough I saw five locusts yesterday while out walking

I don't remember the last time I even saw one, let alone five within less than an hour

We might be reduced to that, eventually.

Re: huge locust outbreak

i wasnt trying to be funny

and eating insects would never be my first choice of food

but faced with starvation?

i figure eating locusts, cooked i imagine in some way, might be a life saver?

Maybe dried they have a good shelf life - in fact I thought they would make good famine food , bagged in paper , with a steamer attached for a gentle drop from the cargo plane - a sachel of sweat & sour , to weigh the package down for stability.

or maybe cooked and canned ?

I wasn't trying to be funny either.

When I went to Thailand last year, they were serving up all sorts of insects and grubs at the food markets.

If I was starving in a famine, I would certainly eat them.

As I said, they have protein.
