Im actually really shocked by this.
a 13 year old and 11 year old have been done for stealing cars.
ELEVEN YEARS OLD!!!! seriously!!
the kid lives in Ridleyton steals a car 20k's away in Gulfview Heights does a petrol run in Old Noarlunga over 50k's away and gets caught in Brighton just over 20k's away.
they are looking for a few more cars involved in the petrol run too.
What kind of child can actually steal and drive a BMW? All that time on th eroad and no one saw a kid driving a car?
It started the "where are the parents" arguement on facebook.
But 11 years old!! I work with kids that age and cant imagine them having the smarts to steal a car

The news last night in Brisbane had a car chase with teens' tyres so shredded they drove on the rims. Another 15yo organised a party in a fire hazzard warehouse with 800 paying attendees. And then same news night a 14-16yo attacked and robbed a woman at a bus stop.
That had me shaking my head. Eleven years old, kinda hard to fathom.

i know teeny. I kinda get the rebelious teens 14-16 but I just cant grasp the concept of 11 year olds. I keep thinking of my kids at work. I cant see how any of them would be capable of stealing/driving/doing petrol runs

Let alone drive it - Chuk
We have an old rally car on the farm. Both of my kids could drive it fast and hard by the age of eleven, the boy regularly getting it up on two wheels as he power slid it round corners. Theres no problems with eleven year olds knowing how to drive if given the oppurtunity.
I,m no expert, but I imagine breaking into cars would be just as easy if the kids have been exposed to it for a year or two. There was a group of indiginous youth who where running amock south of Adelaide ( where this occured ) a couple of years ago.The SA government set up a special police task force to try to get them under control. I dont know if it is the same group, but it sounds like their MO. They specialised in car theft, joy riding and violent home invasions. Some of that group where only 11 or 12 YO.

breaking into and starting modern cars is not easy, its beyond the old hot wire or screwdrive the lock. Most have alarms/immobilisers to get past too. I could drive auto when i was young, but reaching the pedals was an issue ๐ Most farm kids can drive but these kids one from elizabeth and one from ridleyton are city kids not farm kids

One of the biggest police cases in NZ was a 15 year old in a stolen car, filmed by the over head chopper, he out drove the police and made them look like idiots.
The footage was also shown over seas on a TV car chase thingy.
That Kid would have made a fantastic racing driver, but took another road.
How can kids drive like that do their parents teach them from the time they are 10 years old or does it just come naturally to some ??

We used to race the old rally car at a local club. They had a class for under 16 year old kids. They first had to be trained by experienced race drivers, but a couple of these kids where outright place getters on race day, posting faster times than almost all of the adults.
I think the driving games that the kids play on their PC;s give them a lot of experience. The games are basically race car simulators. I have had a couple of nephews from the city who have never driven before hop into the old rally car. They have no fear or understanding of consequences and to be honest are frightening to sit beside on their first drive treating it just like a PC game. ( accelerator flat to the floor, agressive steering etc. )
Our daughter who has just turned 13 is a highly competent driver and has been taught steep hill starts, rank parking etc. in the manual farm ute as well as competition driving in the rally car.

Chuk, you obviously have not lived in Townsville then. A common occurence up there is for 6 year olds yes thats right 6 year olds to be used to break into house by lifting garage doors just high enough for a 6 year old to slid under. And yes they are those "Poor hard done by" indigenous race.
