This conversation started with my saying to put it into perspective. I don't subscribe to the fear campaign when there are clearly other larger risks to our future from global warming to a vast amount of health risks (I could go on)
Tw people have been killed from terrorsit attacks (if you wish to includ the Lindt Cafe seige) in the last few years, lets be realistic that there are larger threats to us.

Oh, I acknowledged that several posts back. I thought you were replying to my post that you quoted.
I agree we have a much higher chance of being killed or seriously injured in a car accident for example, but that doesnt stop me locking my doors at night to safeguard aginst the much smaller chance of a home invasion or kidnapping. Seems a bit silly to ignore some risks just because there are bigger ones out there.

But that's where the old saying "be alert, not alarmed" comes from. There is no need to turn it into a huge fear campaign.

@donnashuggy wrote:What happened in the Lindt Cafe was not organized by ISIS, that man had a lot of gripes including gripes against channel 7, I would not call it large scale terrorism. Just another nutter. I compared him to a murderer rapist because that is what he was. Should I have compared him to a mass murderer?
If you dont believe it was a terrorist attack then stating that earlier on would have been sensible. The only reason for a camparison was to understand what you meant by "low scale terrorism". I'm still not sure I have any idea what your talking about so I'll leave you to your comparisons.

lets be realistic that there are larger threats to us.
the difference is - you can take measures
to minimise the risks.
what makes terrorist acts more dangerous is:
1 - the targets ie public places
2 - the methods - usually suicide attacts
designed to cause maximum casualties.
cant see how that can be compared to health
related risks which in most cases are preventable
or treatable.
