one hour per week are you employed?

Since when have people working one hour per week been considered employed?

my question, 'how many hours need to be worked in a week on minimum wage to live on?'

I think it has to be a min of 15 hours per week before anyone can get newstart, so the government certainly doesn't accept 1 hour a week for that.

You don't have to do fifteen hours of paid work to receive Newstart.

If you do less than fifteen hours a week paid work you must be looking for work and prove your efforts.

You will be forced to do work for the dole or study.

You can chose to do work for the dole. Fifty hours per fortnight.

You can do voluntary work if you are over fifty five years of age.

If you only do one hour of work in the fortnight you are counted as working and therefore not included in the "official" unemployment figure.

The official unemployment rate is a contrived number by whichever government is in charge

Nowadays the underemployed figure is what is the biggest worry.

Capatalism has to have unemployment at around five percent to keep wages down.

Full employment creates run away wage growth to attract the correct talent.

Capatalism was built on slavery. This is why wage theft and modern slavery exists.
