I can tell you how the pony got there....he is a little houdini who just walked through the fence without bargaining on his well padded rump not following through.

We had a Shetland foal who used to do something similar when she was tiny....she was a right little escape artist.  The following summer when she was put back in the same yard she tried the same trick but she had not bargained on the fact that she had grown considerably.  We had to cut the (wooden) fence rail to release her.
