Tell them you're only using a mobile phone now -  costs a lot more to phone.

seriously thinking of just getting a mobile no.    or changing my telephone no.  but that wont solve the problem...I'm still here and she's still there.....I don't answer the phone every time and then I get quizzed on why not?    think we could have a dementia problem here too.   o dear.   don't need this..

don't worry peeps....will work it out...I'll put up with it and just learn to say have to go now... bye...even that takes another 5 minutes to taper offf.

Just don't like hurting peoples feelings.   mmmmmmmmmm

I  feel sorry for you Gill. Is there any way you could explain that you're nerves are bad and you are prone to shingles if you have to talk too long on the phone. I know its a petty lame excuse but it may alleviate the long phone calls. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

The biggest mistake you are making is thinking this person has feelings.

She may have some feelings but they are all about her.

Just say "sorry, I am busy" and hang up.

You are not responsible for her welfare.

Needy people can disrupt your life and invariably misunderstand kindess for weakness.

If you keep being kind it will come back and bite you on the b*m.

Freshy....you've hit the nail on the head.   She's a Scorpio if that means anything to anyone....totally focused on self... doesn't give a hoot about anyone else.   I get her a paper on Sundays  and she gives me bribery and corruption stuff. like dog food and frozen food...to show her appreciation.....thanks everyone.   working it out slowly. xxx

try 2 hours tara.....on the phone only tho.   bit difficult as this person lives alone and is lonely....and deserves to be...not a nice person at all...get phone calls sometimes 4 times a day, with repetitive stuff over and over.  I'm too soft.   But this one also has a vicious streak, so if I cut off, I'll prob. get reported tocouncil for all sorts of imaginary stuff.   short of leaving, selling up, can't work out what to do.  most times I can put up with it, but lately it's getting a bit heavy.

Who would want to speak to you for two hours? Don't you screen your calls? My phone is on permanent answer. As for my neighbours, I have lived here 17 years and have only met one of them five years ago when our dividing fence needed fixing. Perhaps you like the idea of being needed? Who is actually the lonely one?
