i miss the time when a TV was a beautiful piece of furniture and not a big limp of black plastic.

Loved the old Rank Arena telly my grandparents had. When the legs gave out,it just sat on the floor

Then the knob fell off and you needed to use a pair of pliers to change the channel

It had character for sure

I enjoyed seeing those photos.

I'm in the middle of making a book-just a private one about my family ancestry, and what I have discovered is that the most interesting photos aren't the usual ones we tend to take-the holiday photos of mountains or even (for the youngies) plates of food. They are the everyday scenes in our streets and our homes.

Someone working in their kitchen, a view along a main road, inside a shopping centre-all those summon up an era. I cherish the clear ones that are close ups of family members too, mind you..

I,ve got a few of those old B & W TV's in the shed if you still want one Dave.................

I,ve thought it would be interesting to list one on ebay and see if there are still any takers for them, but the postage would be a killer.....Smiley Very Happy

i dont really have the spare space for one, ive hung my modern tv on the wall on one of those brackets so i can swing it left n right, so if i'm at the dining table i can swing it left and watch or if i'm in my big comfy chair i can swing it right.

when its not being used i can put it up against the wall.

but i remember when dad bought our first TV prolly mid 60's it was a lovely thing, all timber woodgrain finish, about 4 feet long with the screen in the center and speakers each side. on legs. took two guys to carry it in from the van.

mum put a lace thing on top with her little nick nacks on it. i remember watching the moon landing on it.
