quick ebay question.

An item finished. No one bidded so I sent the buyer a message that I want it. The buyer wants my paypal ID to send me an invoice. My question is, do I have any protection if I do not get the item and can I dispute it on paypal like ebay? Is it safe without going thru ebay?

quick ebay question.

a buyer once insisted i relist an unsold item "BIN", so i did then let them know, they cant of been online...somebody else clicked the button :^O so there is that risk factor if that item you seek is back on air.

It's not just the listing fee (advertising fee) though Bob.  A lot of sellers are getting free listings anyway.  The seller also has to pay a final value fee when the item sells.  Ebay want that money.

i am of the understanding is you make an PP invoice and include the ebay item number then the seller will be changed a ebay FVF...seeings as ebay and pp are connected?

I really don't know Joz.  I didn't even know that you could link it to an old item number.  What I have done in the past is just list a BIN and title it as something like "special order for (buyers name)".  Then you can just send them the new item number so that they can find it easily.

I thought if they relist and sells advertising is free anyways.

It's amazing how little I know about how ebay works. How long have I been here. :^O

i think thats why in its automated in PP joono when making an invoice they ask if its an ebay item then you continue with the prompts, i can not see any other reason its in there other then to cover themselves for ebay FVFs

nope, i was wrong on two counts, a seller can not make a ebay invoice if the item didnt sell, one can only be made to the winner or a second chance offer

and a seller isnt breaking any ebay rules if they send a PP invoice for an unsold ebay item.

you can not be penalized if you dont include the ebay item number in the PP invoice and it isnt against ebay policy to do that. coz the item is off site without a winner.

Get them to relist it as BIN with no photo and no description, then whip in

and buy it.  That's the arrangement i came to with a seller and it worked

perfectly.  Everyone happy (inc ebay)

so if you include the item number in the PP invoice, you wont get charged a ebay FVF, but you do run the risk of the buyer dobbing you in for fee avoidance.

That's not true either Joz.  As sheep said, The whole reason you are aware that his item is for sale is because of his "advertisement" on eBay

It would be an off ebay transaction and the seller could suffer consequences to their account such as account suspension or restrictions.
