Have been a 20 pack a day smoker
For nearly 40 years and stopped cold turkey
On Monday
So have made it 4 days without a smoke
Feel like I am going crazy
And don't want to go near a shop for a while
Until I feel safe to avoid the impulse to buy
A packet
Not easy that's for sure

I also think it's different for everyone but for me .. it took a year to consider myself a non-smoker. But I will ALWAYS be diligent because I know cravings can come out of left field for years afterwards.
Hang in there .. it does get easier. Much easier as time passes. I can sit next to someone smoking these days and not feel the slightest urge to light one up.

Everytime I see someone smoking I think thank goodness I don`t do that anymore...I know that if I just have ONE I will be a smoker again..just a tip I found having the book on my side table next to the bed made me feel good..it might help..sounds crazy but it felt right

I now know what smoking is really, really good for......Procrastinating ! lol
I've got a lot more done over the last few days.....I still think "I'll have a ciggie then..." hope that goes soon but it'll happen when it happens.
I agree about having the book close by nics. I reread parts every day and will keep doing so.
Thanks for replying about how long you all had "smoke talk" xxx
Hope you're feeling good Opmania ?

glad you are still not smoking op, thats great 🙂
soul really glad you are giving it another go!! Fingers crossed for you
I still find occasionally thinking I'll have a smoke then go.... its been over 2 years for me now. Its not a desire to have one at all more of the deep seated habit of doing it then I'll....
Like nics I know that Im only one smoke away from being a smoker. Luckily though I'd be so disappointed in myself I dont think Ill ever go down that track again

The 'break' and 'reward' cigarettes were the hardest for me to give up. I found I would keep working/cleaning until I was exhausted. I had forgotten how to give myself a break without a cigarette. So I had to force myself to take a break every 30 mins. Just sitting on my computer for 10 mins was enough time for a break.
And the reward cigarette. That was the HARDEST. I would walk out the door at work into the car park and almost cry because the craving for a cigarette after a difficult 8 hour shift was so incredibly strong. But I survived it and now I don't even think about a reward cig.
You will stay a non smoker if you never take a puff ever again. It's as simple as that. That's what has kept me quit.
You are doing great! Congratulations!

Morning oppy, have a great day and I'm with you all the way after struggling to quit for years and failing but I never gave up and now I'm free.
Think of it as being free oppy, because, all the times your've had to leave the room or suffer on planes and all the other restrictions it imposes on you these days, you are free now oppy.
It's heartening to see alll the members supporting you and it's heartening something like this can bring us all together.

Hi
I have been awol for 3 days and
Couldn't reply and nearly brought
A packet yesterday
I went through the checkout at coles
Asked for my brand of cigs
And then said no forget it
Changed my mind
Then about ten minutes after
Walked past coles again and said
Bugger it I'm going to buy a packet
Went to the counter and there was
A lady shopping
Her trolley so far was $79 and after
She got tobacco tally Ho and filters
Her total went to $195
So I walked away without cigs
And still have not bought a packet:)

A moment of weakness, but you fought it.
It's to be expected really, but you must be strong if
you want to win.
Proud of you - keep strong and overcome the urge.
Save your money and your health
