I am wondering why the right feel they have the 'right' or the even the need to start a thread with a title that vilifies a political stance by other CS members?
Sure. Attack the Labor government if you want. Complain about the policies of the opposition.
All of the above is worthy of debate and discussion.
But starting a thread just to bag out another person political viewpoint stinks of something quite desperate to me.

Yes, they are running scared. The indications are all there, they are backing a loser (Abbott) but they won't face up to that.
They have to hark back to something in the past, instead of discussing the important current issues to most Australians - Budget proposals: dole cuts for the under 30's, $7 medical fee, Uni fee increases.
The Diary of our Stinkng Govt started by boris, is a good thread, posters say what they want without personally attacking other posters of opposite views. One post from a moderator, very few, if any post removals, maybe an edit or two.A very good record for a political thread.

Yes I have noticed that they are all eerily quiet on the threads about the budget, the unemployed, the disabled etc.
Either they are highly perturbed at what Abbott is doing but are too stubborn/ashamed to say so or they have yet to form an opinion because the issues are yet to be addressed by the Telegraph.

I'd genuinely like to know their reasons for the unpopularity of Abbott. Unpopular in the general population, in his own party, even though he is almost turnimg somersalts to get up in the polls.
I know what I think, but what do the right put this down to?

Speaking of the Daily Telegraph.. perhaps its out of favour after publishing this:
July 28
Prime Minister Tony Abbott leads the world on MH17, BUT not the polls: Aussie voters still hurting over the Budget
...But they have refused to reward the Prime Minister or the government at home, with the electorate still seeking to punish the Coalition over its stalled Budget.
....But with Mr Abbott — approaching the one-year milestone of his prime ministership — the poll showed only a marginal improvement in his overall leadership and the government’s vote, which has failed to recover from its dramatic slide on the September 2013 election result.
On a two-party-preferred basis, Labor leads the Coalition 52 to 48 — only a one point improvement for the government since the last Galaxy poll after the May Budget and still more than five points down on its election result.
Despite recognition of his leadership of the past week, Mr Abbott also trails Labor leader Bill Shorten as the preferred prime minister, with a 41/35 split.
What will come as a surprise to Coalition strategists is more Australians suggested they would trust the inexperienced Mr Shorten to stand up for Australia’s interests overseas over the PM by a margin of 41 per cent to 39 per cent.
Mr Shorten was preferred by 43 per cent to manage the economy compared with 36 per cent for Mr Abbott.

This is a good article, published today in the SMH
Tony Abbott's Coalition making same mistakes as Labor
The Coalition witnessed Labor’s chronic inability to carry an argument and laughed at it. Yet we now see some striking similarities in the Coalition government itself.
The Abbott government’s first budget is the prime example. After 10 weeks, most of the major initiatives proposed are moribund. The government has failed utterly to persuade the people to support its budget.
...The people most animated about this are members of the government itself. Frustration is rising. So far, it’s contained. Government MPs and senators are not yet going public. But privately, Coalition members are growing increasingly critical of Hockey.
'You can’t declare a budget emergency and then go on holiday in Fiji,'' says another Liberal, a crack at Hockey’s absence from Canberra when the Senate was recalled in early July.
Members of the government are getting cranky with each other, but the problem is a collective one. Wherever individual fault might lie, it’s certainly true that the government as a whole has failed as a force for persuading, for implementing and for succeeding.
