It never occurred to me to "flaunt it" when I was younger. I didn't realise how beautiful youth is.
Now that I'm old, balding, have more whiskers than hubby, a belly that would rival a pregnant whale, and sun damaged skin I almost wish I had flaunted it when I had it

Yeah.
If you've got it then you may as well flaunt it.
The problem is that it is usually the ones that haven't got it, that flaunt it.

to address the question, it isn't something to live by, no.
I used to have a job where I was looked at (ballet). In my private life, I did not dress to flaunt but to be covered up.
