"Shock-Jock" Alan Jones Retires

Alan Jones, Australia's most influential radio broadcaster, will retire at the end of this month, saying doctors had told him his workload was "detrimental" to his health.

The 79-year-old 2GB breakfast host has towered over Sydney's media, and Australian politics, for decades.

His breakfast program has topped the Harbour City's radio ratings since he began in the timeslot in 2001.

During his broadcast this morning Jones told listeners: "We are living in the world of coronavirus. The most repeated statement we hear is 'we must listen to the experts'."

"Well, the experts are telling me in no uncertain terms, and not for the first time I might add, 'continuing with the present workload is seriously detrimental to your health'.

"I have listened to the experts and I am taking this opportunity to indicate to my radio family that I will be retiring from radio at the end of this month.

Despite calling quits on his radio career, Jones will continue to broadcast on Sky News and write for The Daily Telegraph and The Australian.

Yes lionrose, I agree with you 100% . There's hardly anything good I could ever say about that man. Perhaps he's good at closing the fridge door when he makes himself a coffee in the staff room.

Apparently women aren't the only people he has a problem with.

many years ago a school principal in the region I taught in once used the “n in a wood pile” saying at an end of year school presentation night.  He was wanting to say “you can’t please everyone” and “there will always be someone who complains”.

Trouble was that there was a fairly high Aboriginal population in the region I taught in.  His comment did not go down well.

on another note, the biggest users of the ‘n-word’ at the school I taught at were Aboriginal boys.  Non-Aboriginals didn’t use the word, but Aboriginal boys often openly referred to each other as n+$&#@s.  I think ‘rap culture’ has a lot to answer for in this regard.

wouldnt surprise me if i read 'mr jones was dead for some time before neighbours called police because of a bad smell comming from his flat, when they entered the property they found him in the hallway holding one of his awards'

was he   actually a pedophile?  I knew he   was gay . but that's all.  

I know very little about him as i lived interstate until i recently moved to NSW tho i had heard him a few   times. and wondered how he got away with some of the vicious  things he  said but i didn't know he  was a pedophile.
