"Stop The Boats" Takes Toll On Bottom Line

Drop in asylum seeker boat arrivals hits charter operator's bottom line

Prime Minister Tony Abbott's mission to 'stop the boats' has taken a toll on  airlines that once racked up big business flying intercepted asylum seekers  across the region.

Fly-in fly-out and charter operator Alliance Aviation Services is searching  for new clients to offset a downturn in ad hoc charters from the Department of  Immigration and Border Protection now that unauthorised boat arrivals are at a  standstill.

The Brisbane-based airline reported a 34.2 per cent fall in half-year  underlying earnings to $7.1 million in the first half, based on a 9 per cent  fall in revenue during the period as flight hours per aircraft fell.

Chief executive Scott McMillan attributed the lower earnings in part to the  airline doing "a lot fewer charters" for the government since Prime Minister  Tony Abbott was elected in September.

I suppose more job losses will be attributed to Mr Abbott now Woman LOL

you may doubt BUT you don't really know do you ?

Sewing the seed of doubt is a very good ploy of yours and you should consider politics as you would fit in very well.

Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)

I presume  the immigrant industry lawyers will be doing it tough now as well. The massive industry that mushroomed around the Labor policy failures on borders staggers the mind.

Billions of dollars was geared up by Labor to try to put a lid on it, to try to hide the massive failures they engineered, money no object.

We are now witnessing Labor & its supporters doing everything they can to discredit the successes, we are also witness to the endless negativity run on the Abbott govt by the ABC.

The untold millions it will take just to get some semblence of border security back is mind boggling.

All thanks to Labor, this catastrophe that never seems to stop giving.

what are immigrant industry lawyers? Anybody know?

Re: "Stop The Boats" Takes Toll On Bottom Line

I doubt  it is a dubious claim LL,  as I noticed it in a  Financial Review article.

Alliance Aviation Services earnings fall on fewer asylum seeker charters

Updated | Fly-in fly-out and charter operator Alliance Aviation Services is seeking more long-term contracts in the resources sector to offset a downturn in ad hoc charters from the government now that unauthorised boat arrivals are at a standstill.

Fly-in fly-out and charter operator Alliance Aviation Services has entered a trading halt prior to the release of its half-year accounts after the company’s shares plunged by 9 per cent in trading on Wednesday.

If you wish for some  aviation technical information LL  here are the "wet lease" operational  hours for the company:

1HFY13 = 4,320

1HFY14 = 1,592

Meaning 1/3 of the hours leased (with fuel) to customers in the 2014 period compared with 2013.

Like I said. The industries that burgeoned under the Labor failures are now doing it tough & will prob fail in the long run. Will Abbott be blamed for these job losses too.

I only lolled because you call "dubious" straight off the top without even knowing the first thing about it. So funny the way you do that.

that was merely because i have so easily debunked material you've put here in the past. as i said it was a poor joke.

MM you really need to read the entire thread.

Re: "Stop The Boats" Takes Toll On Bottom Line

attacking the material I put on here is not the same as debunking.

As evidenced by your "dubious" comment,  which you've admitted you made simply because you felt like it, hardly makes your comments credible.
