This Weeks Question: Is it about Time to Change or Replace Our Australian Flag ?
Editor's Thought: Whilst Australia is still a Member of The Commonwealth Heads of Government, their are other CHOG Members that DO NOT have the Union Jack displayed on their Country Flag, e.g. Canada, PNG, Cyprus, Zambia, etc, etc. to name a few.
Fifty-three countries are members of the Commonwealth. Our countries span Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific and are diverse – they are amongst the world’s largest, smallest, richest and poorest countries. Thirty-one of our members are classified as small states – countries with a population size of 1.5 million people or less and larger member states that share similar characteristics with them.
All members subscribe to the Commonwealth’s values and principles outlined in The Commonwealth Charter.

So is it time for us to move with the times, and look at redesigning our National **bleep**, into something more " Aussie " ?
" What Sayeth The People ? "

I don't care but if it becomes a great big national issue and people take to the streets then, I would vote to change it, as long as it didn't have any kind of fauna on it or any kind of race based emblem on it.

I think we should change it. BUT so far i have not seen one single design that I really liked, and many are just clumsy & cringeworthy. Surely we can come up with something really good and well designed, and obviously Australian; maybe done by one of the great aboriginal artists?.

I would not support an Aboriginal painting of our flag, why, because it's divisive and racist to so many, just like the "recognize" campaign.

I've seen a couple of very nice ones. I'll have to see if I can find them. I like the southern cross with gold stars. They look great on a Navyish background.
There some really nice ones on that NZ flag link Am put up. Some rather dodgy ones too. But the ones that look good look very good.

How could an aboriginal image be considered racist and divisive. How could it be more racist or divisive than the union jack?

Exactly.
I quite like this
and variations of the next two
I've seen a couple of versions of
but I'd give it gold stars.

I do like the idea of southern cross. But most of the ones I have seen were trying to incorporate too much and ended up with mess.

I rather like this one. yes, I would also change the green and yellow stars. I do not like black on the flag. I like the large star. When I think of what colours represent Australia I would think of bright light blue as our sky, which is very noticeable when you return from 0/S and then the orange colour of the interior.

That's true. I've seen more simple variations of the lower 2 that look better for that reason.
