It promotes a superficial society of people judging others on appearance. Shouldn't everyone accept others as they are?
Go.

I just wanted to add, and if men are wearing toupes to enhance their looks?
Sorry, most of the toupes that Ive seen look really fake, and cheap- and not masculine at all.
They are like a disguise, not an enhancement..I feel for men who are losing their hair, but- a toupe is not the way to go..

Balding men should never put their straggly locks in a ponytail either.

Not sure I agree it is the reason for a superficial society although it does add to the issue.
Personally I would love it if all women didn't feel the need to wear makeup. I don't care whether it is so men like Pod can feel comfortable looking at them or if they do it for 'themselves' (whatever that means).
Because regardless of what they say, it IS a cover up and a pretense. Otherwise why do it.

It can also be an enhancement.

But why?
And I would put enhancement in the pretense category.

Sorry, Im not sure I agree..
To me, and Im only thinking of make up, not body transformation..pretence suggests covering something and hiding it, but enhancement suggests makes something more pronounced- in this case, beauty.
I think if a woman wants to wear makeup, she ought to go for it..more power to her, because my thinking is that shes expressing herself..

We all have the freedom to wear make up, who could object, should we tell men to stop shaving, wear after shave and a deodorant.
Strange controlling behaviour, to tell a women she should not wear make up.
You dont have to look you know and go tut tut, like some controlling religious sect 🙂

tttt, that is why I gave up makeup.
My family only talked about fashions the other day and my son mentioned that Mum used to wear a little makeup every day. He did not realise why I stopped. Can't see what I'm doing without glasses and a magnifying mirror.
I still wear a little lippy when going out, but who cares what I look like at my age. They all watch what I say and do, just in case I have the beginnings of dementia.
