Whilst jokes may be ok, some are in poor taste.

And even though no malice meant, surely he can see it being sensitive to some.

I can't phathom how celebrities, media, higher positioned people don't learn to keep their mouth shut at inappropriate thoughts.

Yes that's true. You can't be too careful , you have to triple-think everything you say,

So much for freedom of speech...

No, everyone still has freedom of speech, one can say whatever one likes, as long as no one else hears.

As much as there is freedom of speech, there is also freedom to chose what one hears.

And if one isn't happy with no one hearing then they have an agenda and are affecting someone else hence they forfeit freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.  Actually, "The Freedom of Speech" means that people are able criticise their government and cannot be punished for it by the said government.  It does not mean that those who do not agree with them cannot exercise their freedom of speech.  Freedom of speech has nothing to do with spouting racist and hateful nonsense, and companies have the right not to employ people who cannot behave in acceptable manner.

Pardon? So you can say what you like as long as you don't say it where anyone can be offended?

No really. You should be able to voice your opinion whatever others think of it. Others in turn, would have the freedom to voice their opinion in opposition to yours.

And if one isn't happy with no one hearing then they have an agenda and are affecting someone else hence they forfeit freedom of speech.

Nah. If one isn't happy with no-one hearing them, they have the "freedom of speech" to pursue their agenda. It's called "freedom of speech".

If those not in agreeance with the subject of the "freedom of speech" topic being aired, they have the freedom of "not hearing" and not addressing.

Totally...nudge nudge...

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom  from consequences. If a person has said something insulting or stupid others have the right to use their freedom of speech to criticise and call you out on it. Speech is an action, actions have consequences.

There has never been absolute free speech in Australia, nor should there be. We've always had defamation laws, laws based on the idea that there will be consequences if your speech harms others
