Re: so.....

Do you still not eat meat on normal Fridays Az?  We had to have separate school dinners on Fridays but then it changed to Good Friday only.

Even thoough I no longer see myself as Catholic I still don't like to eat meat on Good Friday. It's the old Catholic guilt.

Re: so.....

I am not Catholic but I don't eat meat on Good Friday.   I have no religious reasons for my choice but it has been a habit for as long as I can remember.

Since Muslims are now celebrating Easter they should convert to Christianity.

I have some questions. Don't I always?

I have just been reading about Lent, and wiki says:

"According to the canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus Christ spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured
temptation by Satan. Lent originated as a mirroring of this, fasting 40 days as preparation for Easter."

wiki:"observed by Christians in the Anglican, Calvinist, Lutheran, Methodist, and Roman Catholic traditions"

There's that Traditions again. Where in the Bible did Jesus say to celebrate this or for that matter where does it say not to eat meat on Fridays?

As the forty days that Jesus spent in the desert were at the beginning of his ministry, where does the Church get the idea to have it
forty days before Easter?
