It is raining heavily here. I did make the courier driver who delivered a parcel before, very happy though. He asked if he could take a cutting of my frangipani tree. I already had one growing in a pot, so gave him that.

I have just given you the opportunity to dispel the myths and propoganda and you refuse
first time you are given the opportunity to set things straight for everyone on here and you can't comply
what is that saying about you , that all you want is to fill the boards with air and nonsense

1. Halal certification myths have been covered extensively on CS before. See No. 2. why I am not interested in repeating it.
There is no 'everyone' asking for details. They have seen them all before.
2. This thread is a stir...
3. Not me that is fill with air and nonsense - quite the opposite actually.

@am*3 wrote:ok why don't you explain to all exactly what is halal and why there is a need to incorporate it into Vegemite
Been done before extensively.
Nothing is incorporated into Vegemite, a h.c symbol is included on the label though. Vegemite is the same product with or without the label. Very nice it is too.
Maybe something seeps through to the contents?
I prefer Promite, don't read the label, just like the taste.

I suppose it is also a myth that once the entire range of Australian products become Halal certified
then there will be the push to place a Muslim in a position at levels of manufactoring that will ensure Halal compliance
thus ensuring long term employment for at least one section of the community

No one minds if you don't buy halal certified food. It doesn't affect the rest of us who do.
Halal certification bodies send their own staff to check on Halal compliance. That is what part of the halal certification fee covers.
Indpendent checks, not in-house.
Meat industry may have Muslim person(s) employed to ensure animals are killed in accordance with their requirements

you will be boycotting their products as well
No way. My family sell milk to Cadbury and they don't have to pay for halal certification on their dairy.

Halal certification info
Vegemite
In 2010, Vegemite received Halal certification.
While this was welcomed by Australian Muslims, Kraft was criticised by the Christian group the Family Council of Victoria, which labelled it as "ridiculous" political correctness. Kraft dismissed such claims as "racist [and] bigoted commentary.

Bega Cheese
Bega Cheese has a large export business.
Halal Accreditation was gained by Bega Cheese in 1996
A fee is charged by the Halal accreditation body to cover the cost of inspection of premises and issuing of certfication. These charges are in line with those sought by similar certifying bodies.
Our export division pays for all costs associated with product destined for international markets and therefore by its very nature those costs are passed onto our international customers.
We are proud to be able to export Bega brand cheese to over 40 countries around the world, rather than just selling a bulk unbranded product.

@daydream**believer wrote:opmania, theres really no point even discussing this subject with certain people on here.
They only see what they want to see and they twist whatever is written.
Many facts have been posted about the halal certification rort, but they ignore them.
Their choice. Their ignorance
Tha fact is that Australian people rely on the export market for their livelihoods. Much of that export market is available to Australian producers who egt their products halal certified. The costs for the certification is borne by the company's export unit not the local consumer. The only people hurt by this sort of boycott action are Australian farmers and Australian process workers, predominantly in rural areas where unemployment is at it's highest.
