Nothing is incorporated into Vegemite, a h.c symbol is included on the label though. Vegemite is the same product with or without the label. Very nice it is too.

I suppose it is also a myth that once the entire range of Australian products become Halal certified

then there will be the push to place a Muslim in a position at  levels of manufactoring that will ensure Halal compliance

thus ensuring long term employment for at least one section of the community

No one minds if you don't buy halal certified food. It doesn't affect the rest of us who do.

Halal certification bodies send their own staff to check on Halal compliance. That is what part of the halal certification fee covers.

 Indpendent checks, not in-house.

Meat industry may have Muslim person(s) employed to ensure animals are killed in accordance with their requirements

Tha fact is that Australian people rely on the export market for their livelihoods.  Much of that export market is available to Australian producers who egt their products halal certified.  The costs for the certification is borne by the company's export unit not the local consumer.  The only people hurt by this sort of boycott action are Australian farmers and Australian process workers, predominantly in rural areas where unemployment is at it's highest.
