Julia........ I am very well aware of why some are boycotting cadbury
Some chocolates do need certification because they have fillings that are made with gelatine, if they want to sell to the export market.
Picture this........ I have a product I sell locally. It doesn't require labelling but I also sell it interstate where it needs to be labelled.
For the sake of expediency and convenience to me, I label all of them.
I have no way of predicting how many will sell interstate so I am able to provide the same product locally if that market is stronger this month. It is less expensive to la el all of them.
I'm sure that islamic people are well aware of what they can and cannot eat so can avoid foods that they cannot
rather than the rest of the country having to eat foods that are certified halal
there are many middle eastern based grocery shops springing up all over the place with halal products
and many Muslims are buying their food there and why shouldn't they it's for their benefit
and these places are also now starting to aquire their own meat supplies so they are guaranteed to be halal

This is a about chocolate. Some chocolate has animal gelatine in it. You don't know if it isn't labelled.
yes you do know 'just eat plain chocolate with no fillings simple
or alternatively and I'm sure they do, buy some cooking chocolate and make your own fillings , very rewarding

If people aren't bothered about halal certification on products (and many aren't) then they wouldn't need to bother doing the above.
We have had lots of threads before here on halal certification.. where others have pointed out which products have hc.

Good idea.. there would be less tooth decay and possibly less excess weight on people as well!
opmania wrote: buy some cooking chocolate and make your own fillings , very rewarding = check it doesn't have halal certification first!!! LOL
yes you do know 'just eat plain chocolate with no fillings simple - not that simple if people like chocolate coated almonds, peppermint filled chocolate, rocky road chocolate!
I don't like plain chocolate.
