suicide

I know people who kill themselves are not in their right mind in most cases but I get so upset and angry at these ones that take others, especially  children with them.

A 30 yr old woman has jumped in front of a train in Harris park Sydney, while holding a 3 yr old girl , woman dead little  girl in a critical condition... what a selfish act both the little girl and train drivers lives wrecked .

I wonder what on earth was behind it

When someone gets to the stage of wanting to commit suicide, they don't see anyone else around them. The pain is so profound and everything is black. Basically they have been sucked into a big black hole and can see no way out of it. The pain they ultimately cause to others doesn't register at all. They are so caught up in their own pain.

They also feel that no-one loves or cares about them and no-one would miss them if they were dead. She probably tried to take the baby so the baby didn't have to go through the same pain she was, or she didn't want it to grow up without a mother.

What a lot of these people don't realise is, when you become so profoundly sick, you've hit rock bottom. You can't fall any further. The only way to go is up. The reality is, even though it can take many years, you do end up going up again. They just can't see that at the time.

I have a friend with bipolar and when she's down, she's very down. She used to talk about taking her own life because she couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Then a week or so later when she went back up, the world was wonderful. I said to her one day while she was up, look around you, think how you are feeling right now. Right at this instant. I asked her how she was feeling and she said she was on top of the world and invincible. I then said next time she goes down in a week or so, remember that time. Remember how good she felt and that she will get back to that again in a week or so. She just has to get through that bad week.

Now, that's exactly what she does. When she's feeling really down and having bad thoughts, I remind her to think back to that day. Since then, she's not had any suicidal tendencies because she knows the bad will pass.

I have been suicidal in the past. Several times. I never attempted it, but the thoughts were well and truly there. Nothing else mattered, just the pain I was suffering and not understanding why I was feeling that way. The only thing that stopped me doing it was, I knew that one day I could feel happy again. I got myself admitted to a psych hospital for a weekend. I had a change of medications and have never looked back.

I always thought it was a selfish act, taking your own life.....until I crashed and burned myself. Then I learned that you have little to no control over it. You just want the agony to stop and you don't care what you have to do to achieve it.

Call it for what it is suicide and attempted murder. I am sure if the attempted murderer was male it would be easier to

"work out" (and label) what was behind it. Jealousy and the want to punish/wreck/permanently scar their partner's life

comes to mind.

I understand people committing suicide may not be thinking about their actions.

I still think it is an extremely inconsiderate act hurting many.

suicide

I had a close family member who committed suicide, leaving a wife and two small children. It took a very long time for me to get over being angry with him.  It was only after several discussions with his (now adult) son that I began to see it for what it was.

Now I just feel incredibly sad that that was the only way he could see out of the terrible place he was in.  RIP O Robot LOL

i think it is such a tragedy when young people commit suicide because they have so much of there lives ahead for things to improve

and it's usually caused by 'what other people are saying or doing "

they havent learn't not to give a hoot what other people think or say !

but if it's a older person in cronic pain or a painful death diagnosis i'ts there body and there life to decide for themselves to make so long

as they dont do it in a way to hurt others

many years ago a friend of mine was just arriving at the shopping centre when some one threw themselves of the top of the building

landing among a lot of shoppers my friend was very close and someone else could have been killed

many people will have to live with that sight ( it affected my friend terribly )
