the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

It's a well known fact that cockatoos can be as loyal as dogs.

And they like to "help" in the garden, too, just like dogs...

I like the corrugated plastic roofing material that I use on the pergola.

Relatively speaking, it's light - I can pick up a sheet and move it around to fit in place with no real effort.

It's tough, cutting it takes some real effort, so I can be pretty safe in the assumption it'll take a fair bit of wear and tear.

It's UV proofed, so in the medium to long term exposure to sunlight shouldn't see it weaken, or crack.

As a roofing material it does everything I want.

Except that it comes in "smoky brown".

Not that I object to the colour, it's just that when the Sun shines through it, the ground underneath takes on a yellowish tinge - the same tinge that the sky takes on when there's smoke in the air.

It's very easy to look out the back door, on a sunny day, and think "Hmm... yellowish tinge, must be a fire somewhere...".

Maybe next time I re-roof the pergola I'll use green beer bottles.

That'll mean a lot of bottles.

I'd better get myself organised and make a start on that, then... Smiley LOL

I was going to caption it "We'll call this tunnel Tom, and the other two Dick and Harry", but I wasn't sure that the reference wouldn't be too obscure.

Might be a bit obscure ecar.

Do I see the Rockies in the background?

If you mean Alsynite you can get it in different colours at Bunnings for sure and I imagine it would be available at most hardware stores.

You can get clear, clear green and white as well as the brown.  We used a sheet of the white to make a verandah over the door of the dog's kennel.  With a trampoline bed under the awning he could sit out in the rain and still see what was going on withour getting soaked.

Brilliant idea - the dog verandah. Smiley Happy

I've already put the roof up, and I don't like the idea of taking it down again. Not because it's lots of work, but because this time I'll get the measurements right, and it won't look like it was put up by someone in the dark. Smiley LOL

It does the job, it's just not that pretty. Smiley LOL

Yes. That's the Rockies as they would appear if they were in Switzerland. Smiley Wink

It's just like those dusty mountains in MASH, sure they're in Korea... Smiley LOL

There's no way to prove that Steve McQueen took up BMX bicycle riding as a hobby.

Or that he said it was a great way to relax and get away from the stresses of being a Hollywood movie star.

He may, or may not, have been quoted as saying that he thought of it as his "great escape", but I'm sure he smiled, wryly if he did..

But it is an amusing thought. Smiley Wink
