the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Nooo!!  It would take me three hours to make a run into Hobart ecar ... that would leave me totally battered ...  Woman LOL

It's going to be a great day though, they're a boisterous lot, funny, articulate and they sing, it must be an Australian thing!

Love the pancake art Stawks, I just might do something like that!  Mind you, the ladies take over my kitchen and I rarely am able to get into it when they are here, so will experiment tonight!

That's the trouble with the English language - finding things that rhyme, and make sense...

When your coves hove into view they will love your shroves.

Hardly the stuff of Shakespeare, ha ha.

Many years ago I owned a car with one of the early models of a "security coded" radio in it.

It was an old-ish car, and as happens, when the battery died, I replaced it.

Which was all the excuse the radio needed to lock itself.

Rather than go through the long and complicated process of finding a "code" for it, or getting a new car radio (which would probably have thrown my insurance premium through the roof, as the radio would have been worth more than the car) I got a "boom box" portable stereo and wired up a plug for the cigarette lighter.

When the car radio refused to play, in so many senses of the word, I had find another way to entertain myself, rather than singing to myself. (I'm trying to think of a suitably disparaging comment to make about my singing - I have been known to startle flocks of birds on the side of the road, as I've driven past, ha ha).

The stereo sat on the back seat, which meant, from time to time, engaging in gymnastic stretching exercises in order to change the CD. I learnt to love long delays at red lights, ha ha.

Tell that to the young people of today and they'll just say "Why didn't you get an iPod?", ha ha.

There's a pair of galahs that have become regular visitors.

She's content to sit on the fence or perch on one of the rails and watch me, then get down and have something to eat, once I've gone.

He, on the other hand, has sufficient personality for three galahs.

I have to follow a U shaped path to get round to where they feed, but he isn't bothered by the various obstacles in the way, and takes a short cut, a sort of straight line across the top of the U shape, so by the time I get there he's already there, tapping his little foot impatiently.

They were on the ground, yesterday, when the sparrows, who had gathered in the big tree suddenly took off, as a group.

The sudden almost roar of their wings startled the galahs and they flew up onto one of the arches, then sat, looking to the sky, nervously.

Moments later, there he was, the falcon, flying over, lazily.

They look to each other to be their eyes, their ears, their senses of their surroundings.

They are not only birds, specific, but are all part of a greater flock.

A pair of galahs turned up mid/late afternoon, and settled in for the serious business of eating.

A minute or so later they were joined by another galah.

I didn't think much of it until the third bird went over to where the female was eating.

It leant forward to grab a beakful of seed, and she tapped it on the top of it's head with her beak.

There's a reason for an indignant squeak! Ha ha.

It turned around and headed over to the male galah.

It stopped just short of him and what I had thought was just another adult galah underwent an incredible transformation - suddenly the feathers puffed out, and with head tilted back and beak open, it started making a noise like a chainsaw being forced through an underground drain. half filled filled with gravel and possibly something with the consistency of gelatin.

It's a very difficult sound to describe, ha ha.

Hungry? If Mum says no, you have to go and get your own food, the obvious answer is to go and see Dad.

It was amazing how it turned into a "helpless and obviously half starved" baby galah in a matter of seconds, ha ha.

They're a constant source of entertainment for me. 🙂

It's raining here, today, and a bit windy.

Somebody is sitting in His spot.

He turned up about 7, just as it was getting light, ahead of all the other birds so he got to see what the possums had left behind - "I didn't know you gave them banana!".

I'm not sure that he's the one that ate it, but it was gone an hour later.

🙂

Considering the weather it's hardly a surprise that the little bloke has decided to stay over.

It's either raining, or it isn't, but it feels like it might, and the wind seems to have two speeds - gusts with the feel of a roaring gale or gusts with the feel of a roaring gale threatening to take out the power.

It's all fun, here, ha ha.

He's got somewhere dry enough, and sheltered enough, and comfortable enough for him to spend the night and if he gets up early enough he'll have first option on whatever the possums have left, for breakfast, as long as he doesn't mind it being waterlogged.

I'm sure he'll make do, he seems pretty resilient.

Just to be coldly realistic, and take all the fun out of this for a moment, the fact is, if he doesn't make it to the morning, then he doesn't make it to the morning in a place where he felt at home.

It's all good.

🙂
