I lived for a while in a rambling, dilapidated house and shared my room with a kitten who had decided that I was agreeable company.
I remember when the kitten worked out that it could jump from the garden up onto the window sill, and because the window was fixed permanently open, it had it's own "kitten door".
The first I'd know of the kitten coming in was a slight scrabbling sound; claws on sill, then the thump as the kitten made it's way through the not quite kitten height gap under the window.
One night in the small, "Should I be woken, rudely?" hours, someone that the kitten was "frolicking" with found that they too could use the "kitten door", even if that meant making a much larger, and impressive thump as they entered.
That gap was not made for a bigger cat, but a determined bigger cat will find a way through, as I discovered...ha ha.
I had originally planned to have the bed head under the window, but decided to put a small table there, instead.
A wise decision, as it turned out, as that gave me about a 3 second grace period before the cat, or cats, descended upon me.
Which lead to the obvious question - should I stay under the doona or use it as a shield? Ha ha.
