the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

A journalist from a local paper was interviewing an 80 year old lady because she had just got married for the fourth time.
The journalist asked her about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and about her new husband's occupation.
"He's a funeral director", she said.
The journalist then asked her about her first three husbands and what they'd done for a living.
She smiled and said that her first husband had been a banker, her second husband had been a circus ringmaster,
and her third husband had been a Preacher.
The journalist asked why she'd married men with such diverse careers.
She smiled and said "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go".

Where do I find these and why don't I leave them there? Ha ha.

The weather man's uncanny - Friday, late rain... Saturday, rain in the morning....

Sure enough, 11.30, Friday night, the rain starts, and tails off roundabout 1 am Saturday, ha ha.

A couple of thunderstorms passed through, to the North, lots of sound and fury, but no impact here, to speak of.

This morning there is a new little addition - another grey and white figure, but this one is staying close to Mum and Dad.

I'm playing host to the other, older grey and white figure; someone who came running to the door, making "Urgent! Urgent!" noises - quickly, quickly, my younger sibling is out of the nest and is receiving all of Mum and Dad's attention... Validate me! Validate me!!

It's the awkward moment when older sibling syndrome kicks in, ha ha.

She's got some food, not that she necessarily needs it from the way she's hunting moths, in the garden.

We spent a few minutes standing and listening to the world, sharing company, passing some time, so I think she feels a little bit better, ha ha.

Dad bird, over the road, made a point of noticing me, then not doing anything.

It's not a snub, it's not me, it's the little bird and its capacity to take on new experiences - introductions will happen, but gradually.

All in good time.

You're in that limbo state, between "Home", and "The Home".

You had a home.

Echoes of it, of you, remain there.

Furniture, and piles of DVDs, and sheets and unwashed dishes and all the things that made a home.

Your yesterday.

My tomorrow.

In a dark moment you asked me what will happen when you are gone.

I told you that someone else will take care of it.

Someone else will.

Sit on your bed and stare out the window for hours, wondering what will be.

The loose ends of your life in that place will be gathered, the echoes of you will be hushed.

Life will go on.

Breakfast with the bold little possum...
Mum moved from breakfast 1 to breakfast 2, and you stayed behind to finish your piece of banana.
Then you scampered over, and caught up with Mum.
But that didn't last, as there was food available, and you Had to sample it.
While you sat there, Mum moved off, and along the bridge, into the garden.
Quite a way into the garden, but you weren't to be put off - you bounded back to breakfast 1 (two Big bounds!) to make sure that you'd eaten all that there was that was good and yummy, ha ha.
After a quick stop to say hello to me, you were off again to breakfast 2, just to make sure there wasn't anything you'd overlooked, before you made your way across to the bridge, and out into the garden.
When you got to the first intersection, you turned right.
Mum had turned left, a little further down the bridge...
You sniffed the bridge and decided that you were up to date with all the news, so you turned around, back to the intersection, and went further down the bridge, where you found your Mum.
And in true independent young possum fashion, you jumped up on her back, and clung to her, because a little possum, no matter how independent, needs her Mum, ha ha.

The little girl magpie stands on the doormat and tries to shriek the door off it's hinges.

"You weren't here, earlier, and I was here, earlier, and you weren't here, earlier and that's not a good thing!!".

Would you like something to eat?

Oh, Okay...

Dad magpie's over the road, in the longish grass, bug hunting and being followed by the baby magpie.

At a distance you could be forgiven for thinking that they're attached by a short piece of string - Dad takes a step... Baby takes a step...

I'm not going over there, just yet.

Introductions are nice, but I think I'll let them work out when the time is right for that.

The last thing I need is for the baby to have it's first impression of me as a large, frightening figure, ambling towards it.

It's better if the parents choose the time to say "Okay, we want you to meet someone... but don't be afraid". Ha ha.

All I had to do was look at muesli bars, in the supermarket..

The big girl possum, with the little one in tow, comes down the ramp, sniffs the food - nah, nothing interesting... Over to the small table - couple of bits of bread... Nah, hasn't caught my eye, or nose, ha ha, then she heads off, up under the pergola and into the dark.

She's looking for something, but she's not sure that it's there...

No, it's still on the shelf in the supermarket, ha ha.

The cockatoo says "Don't look at me or I'll scurry away....

But if you make a point of Not looking at me - Isn't the sky very blue, today... That tree is very green and leafy... I found some fluff in my pocket, it's very interesting fluff to look at... - then I'll sit on your feet and eat the food that's right in front of you.

But you can't look at me, because that makes me nervous...".

Cockatoos can be very strange birds, sometimes, ha ha.

There was a rainbow lorikeet on the big table this afternoon.

I assume that it had broken it's wrist, because it wasn't putting any weight at all on that side, which meant it crawled around the table with one foot, and both wings.

It was doing a very good job of feeding itself, though, and giving the cockatoos several different kinds of grief, in the process.

Feisty little thing, ha ha.
