I think the key is thinner than a $1 coin, but in the spirit of curiosity I'll give it a go.

The dollar is their way of guaranteeing that I'll return the trolley, (okay, in theory, at least, but work with me on this...).

But if I don't use a dollar, then I'm not obliged to return the trolley to the trolley bay...

Which means I could leave it...

I went to a soccer game with a mate, who was an avid fan, and watched as neither team managed to score a goal, the whole way through.

I don't know what disappointed him more, the outcome of the game or that I referred to it as an anti climatch...
