This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

And if Duct tape and WD 40 don't work, there's always cable ties
Ecar, I feel so sorry for you and your birdies recently
When it's only 0 degrees at 9am, you know it's been a cold one.
After Wednesday's overnight low of minus 6.3 degrees, at the time the coldest morning of the year, Canberra has outdone itself by dropping to minus 6.5 in the early hours of Saturday.
The low was recorded at 5.03am at the Canberra Airport.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jordan Notara confirmed it was the coldest temperature recorded in Canberra this year, adding that a high-pressure system over the territory was causing clear skies and widespread frost.
At 9am the temperature was 0 degrees, warming ever so slightly to 1.6 degrees by 9.30am and 2.5 degrees by 10am. We don't blame you if you're still in bed.
Canberra has battled sub-zero mornings since Monday, making for some stunning scenes around the capital.

I had noticed that it had been a bit nippy in the mornings, recently... ha ha.
When my toes go numb before I've even set foot outside I know it's a cold one out there...
"Canberra has battled sub-zero mornings since Monday, making for some stunning scenes around the capital."...
Well, well, well... Somebody went to the school of poetic prose in journalism, didn't they? ha ha.
It's a reasonable guess on my part that two of the old man birds won't be coming back.
I knew when I met them that I had eight or at best twelve weeks and they'd be gone, from being my friends to being a bit of a hole in my life.
Being stoic - they're old men, one day they'll die.
But that doesn't mean I don't feel their absence as much as I did their presence.
I knew from the start that the clock was ticking, so I made the best of the time I had with them.
They had a good time here. They smiled, I smiled, We smiled, it was good, ha ha.
You want flowery "journalistic" prose? Let's add a dash of sarcasm, somehow I'm in the mood, at the moment... The exhaust plume vapour from the line of cars stopped outside the local primary school, as the kids are dropped, off fill the air and dissipate like the steam from a kangaroo's nostrils as it stands, majestically, regarding the frosty paddock around it.
It's cold. I'm cold. My friends are gone and may never return.
Yes, find a vantage point and look at the snow on the back hills...
Find a frozen spider's web and marvel at the way the light plays in it.
There is much to see, Winter here brings a feast for the senses.
But it also brings a kind of misery, a cold misery all of it's own and some days all I want to do is dwell on days that were warmer, and times that were happier.

It sure is cold here at night, but we're getting snow in the highlands also and that is something I really love,
Off to Cradle Mountain on the weekend to frolic in the snow and walk around the lake ... yay! We have our Canadian snow coats and Alaskan boots, so it should feel somewhat tropical for us ... ![]()
Hope everyone is keeping rugged up and warm and feeling cosy .... ![]()
