the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Tear myself away from you wonderful people,

Or...

Go outside in the rain, get wet, get yelled at by cockatoos, be attacked by the feral rose bush, get wet (I know I said that already, but it's started to rain, now), track half the garden through the house as I go in search of the tool I should have taken with me in the first place, phew! I'm out of breath just thinking about it. Smiley LOL

Hmm. Big choice. Weighing something I can put off til tomorrow against the warmth and camaraderie I find here.

Gee, I don't know... Smiley Wink

We will wait Ecar.

Go fix it - get wet - take a shower - get warm.

We will wait.

Had to edit - for some reason my K is sticky.

It's looking like a tomorrow job, now.

It's gone 5, and my time is no longer my own, not for the next five hours, or so. I get a bit here, and a bit there, but essentially the evening belongs to someone else.

There's more to caring than just having a warm, fuzzy feeling about worthy causes. Smiley Wink

I made the choice, I accepted the responsibility and now I'll see it through until such time as I no longer have to.

Because that's what a man does, well, that's my "old school", unfashionable, archaic belief, anyway.

And that is what a woman does- also

See it through.

No broken promises.

Integrity - counts.

Ecar, It can be difficult to follow through- but that shows a type of courage and (as Helen already wrote) integrity..

I respect that.

It's a simple solution, it's not a "forever" solution, but it will do the job I want.

In short, dig a hole, half fill it with sand. Upend a terracotta plant pot in it, and use a spirit level to make sure it's level - twist the pot around in the sand if you need to. Fill around the pot with sand, fill the pot through the hole, too.

There you have it, a good, level base for the bird bath. You could go the whole hog and use cement, instead, if you could stand the mess, and the drying time.

Total "search time"? About five minutes to explain the situation, and about the same to outline a solution.

Add another half hour, or so, and a cup of tea to that. Smiley Wink

The other "search engine".

I like sitting down for a chat with old people.

They may have no more skills, or knowledge, or life experience, or even a different view on the world, than me, but what they do have is time.

In the instant information "all the answers are at your fingertips" age, what's missing is the time to talk. The time to discuss, the time to be able to say "Now I think of it, how about this as an alternative to what we've just talked about?".

Instant information equals one answer. Full stop. Take it or leave it.

There's no imagination, there's no "hang, on, on further consideration...How about this as an idea".

Time, time spent with a human being beats any answer an online library can cough up.

And online libraries don't tell you funny anecdotes -

"I think I must have owned about a dozen dogs. I'd always get the old ones, from the RSPCA. I couldn't abide the idea of people dumping a dog just because it's old. Even if it only lasted a couple of years, as least it had a loving home".

"Do you remember their names?".

"Rusty".

"What about the other dogs?".

"Oh no, they were all called Rusty, that was the name on the plaque over the doghouse door. It saved time, and confusion".

Show me a web search engine that can match that. Smiley LOL
