This is a thread with no particular
Topic so no one can be off topic 🙂
So if anyone out there has something
To say about anything you like now
Is your chance
Keep it clean
And be nice
See how long that lasts
Can we keep politics and religion out
Of the conversation

I won't get that one more day...
The old man bird died, last night.
He found a comfortable spot in the garden, fell asleep and didn't wake up.
So, tonight, if the sky is clear, I will go and look and somewhere in that wheeling flock that traces a path across the heavens I might glimpse an old man bird who will smile upon me.
He chose the place, he chose the time, some may say that he chose the means- he closed his eyes and said "This is it...", and so, it was.
What better way to go than to go on your own terms?
What better way to go than with a smile...
A life lived, and lived well.
Goodbye, old man, the brevity of our acquaintance did not act to diminish its' quality.

While I dug the old man's grave, and sang to him, commending him to his Ancestors, a baby cockatoo flew from one end of the yard to the other...
Back and forth, parent to parent, complaining loudly and bitterly that it was hungry, and surely this was a state of affairs not to be tolerated.... ha ha.
A wry backdrop to a funeral, a reminder that life, in whatever form, continues...

Mother possum got up and made it about half way through the door before she decided that she was right, there, so she crouched on the veranda...
Not long after, the visitor girl possum emerged and went from possum house to bridge above, about two and a half feet, in a single bound... she's got thighs like an Olympic gymnast, ha ha...
She stopped on the bridge and went through the intricate process of scratching the inside of one back leg, with the other...
Mother, watching her, craned her neck slightly, and I could see the thought forming... ha ha...
No, not just yet, there's time for chasing her later on, although she is in a vulnerable position... but no, fair's fair... ha ha...
Mother's the first dominant, territory owning, let alone pregnant female I've known who hasn't been a raging tyrant.
I'm not quite holding my breath, waiting to see if things change, but for the time being I'm quite happy with them playing nicely, ha ha.
Except maybe for the land heavily with a thump, on the roof, above the bedroom, then run like a scalded cat... usually round about midnight... ha ha, I'm not entirely happy with that... ha ha...
Still, if it's the worst that I can complain about, then I haven't got it too bad... ha ha.

If you've ever fed chickens in a coop, you'll appreciate that cockatoos have the same slightly deranged carpet mentality, ha ha...
They gather.... We have to get as close to you / the food, as possible... ha ha...
Luckily enough, chickens don't leap...
But cockatoos do... ha ha...
So I found myself ankle deep in a seething lake of the feathered, holding one end of a box of bird seed, while a cockatoo perched on the other end, and served himself...
He was happy to have me take food out of the box and distribute it, as long as my hand didn't get in his way... ha ha...
We even went for a walk around the garden, something I'm sure he enjoyed immensely because he got to show off to all the other birds, "Look at me! I'm special!", ha ha.
I threw a handful of seed onto the ground about two feet from me, and half a dozen birds descended on it...
That only leaves the half dozen or so standing in front of me - "That's too far to walk... can you put some seed down here?", ha ha.
Another perfect day... 😉

There's a loose paling on the fence.
It's fixed at the bottom, but leans to one side at the top...
The cross rail for the fence sits across the bottom of the gap.
I'd get around to straightening it up and fixing it in place but I don't think I'd ever hear the end of it, if I did, ha ha...
Even if I cut a special wren doorway, or two or three, at the bottom of the fence, ha ha...
He's not your average hippity-hoppity, hippity-hoppity, through the hole in the fence and keep on going kind of wren...
Oh no... Not at all... It's hippity-hoppity, into the hole in the fence, pause so that his adoring public may admire him, and then keep on going, wren, ha ha...
"You putting in a bit of bridge?" The wren said, as I struggled to get the next length of bridge to line up...
"More trying and failing than not...", I said...
"Last time you put a block in, so all you had to do was slide the bridge in, at that end...", he said..
I paused and said "Yeah... I hadn't thought of that..."...
"I know", said the wren, in a slightly sarcastic tone, before hopping off into the garden...
He's very good at helping, but he's equally good at poking fun at my expense... ha ha.

There's a cat that lives down the street and I swear it has more fur than brains... ha ha.
I watched it this afternoon as it stalked the magpie family on the other side of the street...
They made their way up the street "oblivious to the cat's presence" until they got to "the right spot"...
And then all three of them turned on the poor cat, terrorising it and chasing it away, ha ha...
It's all good, clean magpie fun... ha ha...
I honestly feel sorry for that cat...
The local Government recommends keeping cats enclosed for the safety of local bird life, perhaps they should amend that to add keeping the cat safe From local bird life... ha ha...
